I don’t often share my supplement routine (mostly because I don’t take many), but this is one protocol I come back to time and time again when I feel a cold coming on. With cold and flu season in full swing, I thought it was worth sharing. It’s simple, low risk and inexpensive.

The strongest evidence exists for zinc (started early), vitamin C (high dose started early) and vitamin D (particularly if deficient). And when it comes to food and lifestyle, I focus on vitamin C, probiotics, warm/comforting foods, hydration and most importantly…rest.

While no supplement can prevent or cure a viral infection, some may help support your immune response and modestly reduce the severity or duration of symptoms.

When you’re caring for a new baby, nourishing yourself can often fall to the bottom of the list.

We’ve partnered with .dietitian to curate a selection of postpartum-friendly snacks that feature fibre rich wholefoods and satisfying sources of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats to support energy, blood-sugar balance and provide sustained nourishment during the demanding early days.

Some of Renee’s favourite postpartum-friendly snacks from .store include:
• Food to Nourish bliss bars
• Kooee sea salt beef jerky
• Gimme roasted seaweed + avocado
• Dr Karg’s 3 seed crispbreads + peanut butter
• Mindful Foods Eros Love & Vitality + Greek yoghurt
• Dona Cholita avocado oil corn chips + guacamole
• Cool Medjool dates

Having easy, nourishing snacks on hand can make a huge difference in those early weeks, especially when you’re spending long hours feeding or contact napping with only one hand free.

What are some of your favourite postpartum snacks?

This May, I’m supporting annual fundraising campaign, Clean Bums for Little Ones.
Their goal is to raise $100,000 and collect 500,000 nappies from May 1-31.

Right now, more than 34,000 Australian families are struggling to afford nappies every month. And while nappies might seem like a basic essential, for many families in crisis they can quickly become unaffordable. Parents are often left making impossible decisions between things like food, bills, hygiene products and nappies.

Most of these families are single mums doing everything they can to keep their babies clean, comfortable and cared for.

The Nappy Collective is Australia’s only nappy charity - distributing nappies so families in crisis can access nappies for free. If you can, please donate this May. Even $5 or $10 (the price of a coffee) genuinely makes a difference and helps keep nappies moving to families who need them 🫶

Creatine has become one of the most talked-about supplements in women’s health lately. But with that has come a lot of confusion and misinformation.

I recently asked my Instagram community what questions they had about Creatine, and the responses covered everything from hormones, bloating and kidney health to pregnancy, breastfeeding, cognition and endometriosis.

The reality? Creatine is one of the most researched supplements we have, but a lot of the information online lacks nuance — especially when it comes to women.

In this post, I unpack:

whether creatine causes water retention
if you need it to build muscle
the evidence around hormones + kidney function
creatine in pregnancy and breastfeeding
cognitive benefits
blood sugar support
endometriosis concerns
and whether Creapure is actually necessary
As always, context matters. Supplements aren’t one-size-fits-all, and more research in women is still needed. But the evidence we do have is really interesting.

If you’re unsure whether creatine is appropriate for you, or want support navigating supplements in the context of fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause or general women’s health, I offer individualised nutrition support in clinic 🤍

Save this for later and send it to someone who’s creatine-curious 👀

RECIPE: Lentil Sausage Rolls

Sausage rolls don’t get much better than this, in my opinion! Packed with fibre, plant protein and veggies, these lentil sausage rolls make a nourishing family meal, lunchbox filler or easy snack — especially during pregnancy when bland, savoury foods are all you can manage. They’re simple to make, freezer-friendly and always a hit with both little ones and adults alike.

• 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
• 1 onion, diced
• 2 cloves garlic, crushed
• ½ tsp fennel seeds
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1 carrot, grated
• 100g cooked sweet potato, mashed
• 1 tin lentils, drained + rinsed
• 1 tbsp tomato paste
• 1 cup grated cheese
• ⅓ cup breadcrumbs or quinoa flakes
• 2 tbsp h**p seeds
• ½ tsp salt
• 2 eggs (separated)
• 3 sheets puff pastry
• 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Sauté onion for 5 mins, then add garlic, fennel seeds, paprika and carrot. Cook for another 5 mins.
Preheat oven to 180°C and line a large tray with baking paper. Remove puff pastry from freezer to thaw slightly.
Transfer onion mixture to a bowl. Add sweet potato, lentils, tomato paste, cheese, breadcrumbs, h**p seeds, salt and 1 egg. Mix well, mashing slightly with a spoon.
Divide mixture between pastry sheets, shaping into logs along one edge. Roll pastry over filling and seal. Cut each roll into 4 pieces.
Whisk remaining egg and brush over the tops. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 25–30 mins, or until golden and crisp. Cool slightly and serve.

It’s been a busy month for me...returning from travelling around Australia, moving house, Christmas and squeezing in a couple of camping trips. My pantry has been all over the place but I finally got it sorted!

As a dietitian, I’m pretty picky about what food comes into our home, which is why I love shopping through .store. This online store takes the overwhelm out of finding healthy, good quality products. Every item is carefully vetted, so I can shop quickly and confidently knowing the ingredients align with what I recommend to clients and what I want for my own family.

I recently stocked up on all our staples — snacks, wholegrains, baking ingredients, sauces, pantry essentials and a few new goodies to try — and it all arrived straight to my door (a lifesaver when you’ve been living out of bags for weeks!). I’ve been shopping with Part&Parcel for over 5 years now and I find it easy and affordable thanks to the wholesale prices they offer. I can’t imagine how much I have saved over the years! This isn’t a sponsored post, I just love supporting this business and it works well with my lifestyle.

If you’re resetting after a busy season too, definitely check them out. You can use the code RENEE20 for $20 off your first order over $99 🫶

Give the gift of lifelong health this Christmas 🎄
Whether you’re buying for yourself, a friend or a family member, ‘Nurture the Seed: Your evidence-based guide to prenatal nutrition’ is the perfect gift for anyone planning a pregnancy, already pregnant, or navigating postpartum.

As a dietitian and mum, I wrote this book to cut through the overwhelm with clear, evidence-based guidance, practical symptom support, and simple whole-food recipes you’ll want to make again and again.

It’s a beautifully illustrated 300-page hardcover book that’s easy to digest, inspiring and aesthetically pleasing - the kind of gift that feels thoughtful, useful and truly supportive during such an important chapter of life 🫶

Orders must be in by Friday 17th December for the book to arrive in time for Christmas.

Happy shopping!
