Did you know we offer Young Adult Support Options, designed for young people (18 to 25 years of age) with low to moderate support needs?

We can provide support to exercise, learn a new skill, work towards a goal, or attend an appointment.

We can also organise activities with other young people who enjoy the same things you do like bowling, going to see live music or an exhibition. We highly encourage young people to team up against their Support Workers in challenges like Laser Tag!

What is a Census? Every five years, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) counts every person and household in Australia. This is called the Census of Population and Housing.

Census night is Tuesday 11 August 2026. The Census form asks questions about your age, country of birth, living situation, work and education. The data is used to inform decisions about transport, schools, health care, infrastructure and business. It also helps plan local services for the community.

The Census is compulsory and everyone in Australia on Census night must be included on a Census form. You can help a family member, friend or person you care for to complete their Census form. For more information: https://info.census.abs.gov.au/about

✨ Thank you for the music! ✨

Our Social Support group had a wonderful time at the ABBA: Thank You for the Music show at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre. The music was fantastic, the costumes were dazzling, and the company was even better!

Reminder: An AusAlert national test will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia today, Monday 27 July 2026. For New South Wales residents the test will be sent at 2.00pm.

Devices will vibrate and play a siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds. An AusAlert message will appear on device screens. It will clearly say it is a test.

If receiving an AusAlert test message will disrupt you or cause you or a participant or family member to feel unsafe, turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location and leave them off for at least one hour.

Today, 24 July 2026, is International Self-Care Day. It is particularly important for people who are carers or community service workers to recognise the importance of self-care. Taking time for self-care is essential for maintaining your physical and mental health, preventing burnout, and being able to effectively support others.

The saying β€˜You can't pour from an empty cup’ highlights the importance of self-care. It means that if you don't prioritise your own well-being, you won't have the energy, resources, or capacity to care for others.

We strongly encourage everyone to take time for yourself and set healthy boundaries. Sip herbal tea, and take a moment to breathe, do an activity you enjoy, make time for exercise. Each small act of kindness for ourselves is a step toward happiness and balance.

At Interchange Illawarra we offer a Parent/Carer Health and Wellbeing Program for parents and carers of registered participants. These free events allow parents to meet others in a similar circumstance, socialise, learn new skills and enjoy some fun time out that’s all about them.
