I have published a letter in Fertility and Sterility reports about a failed GnRh agonist trigger, and how we recovered from that unexpected negative outcome.
The question is not if we make mistakes, in reproductive medicine we have so many variables to account for and adjust that sub optimal scenarios are inevitable. The true question is how do we identify our own cognitive biases in order to reduce subjective interpretation, and what does it take to recover from these situations. Clinical expertise comes with seniority, but making the right choice in the face of a poor outcome also requires considerable psychological work with intellectual humility and professional security.
