MEGAN MULCAHY | Psychologist at Self Reflections

There is something incredibly special about witnessing someone grow into the clinician they were always becoming.

Over the past few years, we’ve had the privilege of watching Megan develop with warmth, thoughtfulness, curiosity, and genuine care for the people she works with. And today, we’re so proud to officially celebrate her as a Registered Psychologist.

Megan works with children, adolescents, and adults across a range of presentations including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, neurodiversity, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, personality-related challenges, and body image or emerging eating disorder concerns.

Her work is deeply grounded in reflection, insight, and relational safety. She has a strong interest in schema therapy, attachment, perfectionism, personality patterns, and helping clients gently understand the emotions, experiences, and coping strategies that shape the way they move through the world.

Megan brings a therapeutic style that is warm, collaborative, approachable, and deeply thoughtful. She creates a space where clients can feel safe enough to explore, understood without judgement, and supported at their own pace.

Her work draws from a range of evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, DBT, Schema Therapy, psychodynamic-informed work, and mindfulness strategies, always tailored thoughtfully to the individual sitting in front of her.

Most importantly, Megan shows up with humanity. And that matters deeply to us at Self Reflections 🤍

Megan is now accepting new referrals with immediate availability, in person or online.

Eligible with or without a referral, including under:
• Mental Health Treatment Plans
• Chronic Disease Management Plans
• Private Health

A little humour… because sometimes therapy language really does end up in the group chat 🤍

While this carousel is tongue-in-cheek, the heart behind these vouchers is something genuinely meaningful to us.

Over the years, we’ve seen people gift support to loved ones during seasons of grief, burnout, trauma, overwhelm, transition, illness, heartbreak, parenting struggles, or simply moments where someone needed a little extra care.

Not as a way to “fix” someone.
Not as pressure.
But as a gentle gesture that says:

“I see you.”
“You matter.”
“You don’t have to carry this alone.”

Our Wellbeing Vouchers can be used toward appointments, assessments, online programs, and supportive wellbeing resources, allowing the recipient to choose what feels most supportive for them, in their own time.

And yes… they also make a pretty funny birthday gift for the friend collecting red flags like Pokémon cards 🚩🙂

Available via our website and link in bio.

Sometimes support doesn’t arrive in loud ways.

Sometimes it looks like a quiet gesture.

A message that says:

“I’m thinking of you.”
“You don’t have to carry this alone.”
“I wanted to give you something meaningful.”

Our Wellbeing Vouchers were created with that intention in mind.

A gentle offering for someone moving through change, needing support, beginning therapy, or simply deserving of care.

They can be used toward appointments, assessments, online programs, and selected wellbeing resources, allowing the recipient to choose what feels most supportive for them, in their own time.

Because sometimes the most meaningful gifts are the ones that hold care, not just things.

Sometimes we move through things quietly.

We keep going.
We show up.
We do what needs to be done.

And from the outside, it can look like we’ve handled it… like it didn’t really touch us in the way it did.

But coping isn’t the same as not being impacted.

There are moments we carry in the body.
Experiences that settle a little deeper than we expected.
Things we made it through… but haven’t quite made sense of yet.

Both can be true.

You can have coped…
and still need space to process, feel, and be supported.

If this resonates, save it for a moment you need to be reminded 🤍

At Self Reflections, the work doesn’t begin in the therapy room.

It begins at the front desk.
In a phone call.
In the way someone is greeted, spoken to, and welcomed.

Our admin team plays a quiet but essential role in the experience of every client who walks through our doors.

They are the ones who create steadiness before vulnerability.
Warmth before uncertainty.
Care before the work even begins.

We’re currently opening a small opportunity to join this team.

Not just to fill a role,
but to become part of the environment that holds everything together behind the scenes.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, thoughtful, and genuinely cares about how people feel when they engage with us.

If this feels like the right fit for you, or someone you know, you’re welcome to reach out.

There is a rhythm to this work.

Not rushed.
Not performative.
Not shaped by what is trending or loud.

But steady.
Intentional.
Built over time.

And somewhere along the way, the pace of this space began to drift from that rhythm.

So we stepped back.

Not out of absence but out of alignment.
Not to withdraw but to return to what matters.

Because not everything needs to be said.
Not everything needs to be shared.
And not everything meaningful translates into content.

At Self Reflections, we hold a quiet responsibility.

To consider not only what we offer but the impact of how, and when, it’s offered.

This space will move differently.

With care.
With intention.
With respect for your capacity, not competition for your attention.

The work we do has never been about being seen.

It has always been about seeing…
deeply, respectfully, and in relationship.

And that is something we will always protect.

We’ve been a little quiet on here.

And truthfully … that was intentional.

Sometimes the most aligned thing you can do is step back, tend to what’s happening in your own world, and return when there’s capacity again.

Which, in many ways, is exactly what this month’s theme has been about.

Nervous system regulation.

If you’ve been on social media lately, you’ve probably seen a flood of advice on how to “fix” your nervous system.

Cold plunges.
Morning routines.
Highly optimised rituals.

Some of it can be helpful.
But a lot of it can also feel like just another thing to get right.

At its core, regulation is much simpler than that.

It’s about noticing.
Responding.
Reducing pressure where you can.
And creating small moments of safety and steadiness throughout your day.

Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
Just enough.

If this is something you’re navigating at the moment, you’re not alone.

We’re easing back in … slowly, intentionally … and there’s more to come.

If this resonated, you’re welcome to save it for when you need it 🤍

If regulating still feels overwhelming, you don’t have to do it alone.

Our clinicians can support you gently, at your pace … in person or online.

You’re welcome to explore bookings via our website or link in bio.

“I’m fine.”

One of the most common opening lines in therapy… and sometimes the one that quietly holds the most underneath it.

Don’t worry … therapy isn’t about catching anyone out.

It’s about creating enough safety for the real conversation to unfold, at a pace that feels manageable.

Sometimes it just takes a few gentle laps around “fine” first.

Happy Friday from the therapy room 😅

Sometimes the way our body responds can feel frustrating.

We might shut down, become overwhelmed, feel anxious, or struggle to focus … and it’s easy to assume something is “wrong” with us.

But often, what we’re experiencing isn’t failure.

It’s protection.

Our nervous system is constantly scanning for safety and threat, responding in ways designed to keep us safe, even if those responses no longer feel helpful in the moment.

When we begin to understand this, something shifts.
Instead of fighting our reactions, we can start to meet them with curiosity, compassion, and care.

And that’s often where regulation begins.

Comment below … what helps your nervous system feel safe?
