Last weekend I headed out of the Illawarra to explore more of this beautiful NSW coastline with my hubby and boys 🌊☀️🐋
It was the perfect chance to switch off, recharge and enjoy some proper family time — made even easier knowing my patients were in very safe hands back home.
A huge thank you to Dr Emma Tetstall for covering for me while I was away 🙏🏼 We all know it takes a village, and I’m incredibly grateful to have found such a wonderful new Wollongong village. Very happy to return the favour sometime soon Dr Emma 💕

I am feeling incredibly grateful for the support I have received from Illawarra families and colleagues. You have made me feel so at home.
This week marked a truly special milestone: welcoming my first Caesarean baby into the world at Wollongong Private Hospital 🏥 🥰💕
There is nothing quite like the journey of pregnancy. My role in it becomes infinitely more meaningful when I have had the privilege of walking alongside an expectant mother, getting to know her hopes, and sharing her anticipation.
Being trusted to safely guide a new family through those first breathtaking moments of life is an indescribable honour.
My heart is so full to be doing the work I love once again. Nurturing growing families is a profound privilege, and I am deeply thankful to serve this wonderful Wollongong community.

Cytomegalovirus or CMV for short is a very common virus. Once infected the CMV virus stays in your body for life. By the time we hit our teens, half of us have already been infected. It commonly affects toddlers and teens.

It’s not as contagious as a cold, and casual contact won't spread it. CMV is only spread through body fluids (urine, saliva, tears).

CMV infection can cause a fever, sore throat and swollen glands. If you are pregnant with these problems ask your healthcare professional for a CMV blood test.

So, when you're pregnant, be extra careful to avoid CMV with
🧴being a hand-washing ninja
🥄 not sharing food or drinks with little ones
🧷 washing your hands after nappy changes
💋 kissing toddlers on the forehead instead of the mouth

Goodbye PCOS and hello 👋 PMOS!

The term polycystic ovarian syndrome was a total relic from nearly 100 years ago when women's health medicine was still in its awkward phase.

It was high time for a name change, since PCOS isn't all about the ovaries - and let's be real, you can have this syndrome with ovaries that look 👀 totally normal.

I'm o***y the moon 🌙 about the new name 😉

The 🆕 name, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, or PMOS for short, is a total game-changer and way more accurate.

PMOS affects a whopping 10-13% of reproductive-aged women in Australia.

It's a condition that's all about hormonal variations, which can impact weight, periods, mental health, skin, hair, fertility, and more.

And here's a fun fact: women with PMOS aren't more likely to have cysts on their ovaries than women without it.

It's time to ditch the old name and get on board with PMOS !

Nice to see some of the positives of being an “older” Mum

A Bluey post for all the C-section Mums out there 🩷

APRIL IS C-SECTION AWARENESS MONTH 🤍🌸

To every mama who brought her baby into this world through surgery… this month is for you.

People don’t talk about it enough—
how brave you had to be,
how still you had to lie,
how you walked into that operating room knowing your life was about to change forever.

They don’t talk about the shaking.
The fear you swallowed.
The pressure you felt.
The moment your body was opened so your baby could arrive safely.

They don’t talk about the recovery—
the burning pain,
the slow steps,
learning to stand, walk, laugh, cough, and hold your baby again
while healing from major surgery.

They don’t talk about the guilt some moms carry,
as if the way you delivered makes you “less.”

Let’s be clear—
there is nothing less about a C-section mom.

You are strength.
You are courage.
You are survival.

That scar?
It’s not a flaw.
It’s proof.
The line between life and loss.
The mark of what you endured to bring your baby safely into this world.

So here’s to the C-section moms—
the emergency ones,
the planned ones,
the terrified ones,
the brave ones,
the ones who didn’t get the birth they imagined,
and the ones who fought through pain with love in their hearts and stitches in their skin.

You are warriors.
You are mothers.
You are magic.

And this month, we honor you. 💖
