This Cancer Nurses Day, we’re celebrating the incredible contribution of our cancer nurses at Leongatha Memorial Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospital.

They support patients, families and communities every day through one of the most challenging periods of their lives, both physically and emotionally.

Cancer nurses deliver specialised care, lead improvements in practice and make a meaningful difference for people affected by cancer.

Rinosh Thomas, Nurse Unit Manager of Chemotherapy Services at Leongatha Memorial Hospital, said, “I love working in cancer care because I can offer compassionate, meaningful support while helping people access quality care closer to home.”

Erin Passarin, Co-Nurse Unit Manager at Wonthaggi Hospital’s cancer service, said, “We get to build meaningful connections with consumers and their families, support people through some of the most challenging moments in their lives, and make a genuine difference through compassionate, evidence-based care.

"We love the complexity of oncology, the opportunity to keep learning, and most of all, being part of a supportive team that makes a difference every day.”

Happy Cancer Nurses Day to all the incredible cancer nurses! 💙

It’s DonateLife Week! Did you know that most Australians support organ and tissue donation, but only one-third have registered?

If that’s you, take a minute this DonateLife Week to register as an organ and tissue donor at donatelife.gov.au or through Medicare.

Every year people die waiting for a transplant. One organ donor can save the lives of up to 7 people and change many more through eye and tissue donation.

To be inspired to register, hear from grateful organ recipient Luka-Angel 👇
