Today, I got a tattoo that means more to me than words will ever be able to explain.
This isn’t just a tattoo. This is my story. My pain. My struggles. My tears. My battles. My survival.
Every line of this tattoo represents a part of me that suffered, a part of me that broke, and a part of me that somehow found the strength to keep going when I felt like I had nothing left.
There were nights when I cried myself to sleep, wondering how much more pain one person could take. Nights when the weight of everything felt unbearable. Nights when I felt completely alone, broken, and lost. Yet when the sun came up, I painted a smile on my face and chose kindness. I chose to be there for others, even when I was drowning inside myself.
Most people never saw the battles I was fighting. They never saw the tears, the sleepless nights, the heartbreak, the fear, or the moments I sat alone trying to hold myself together. Unless you truly knew me, you would never understand the struggles and pain I have carried for most of my life.
The truth is, there were times I reached rock bottom. Times when I felt completely defeated. Times when people tried to break me, destroy me, and make me believe I wasn’t enough.
There was even a time when I almost lost the battle with myself.
The scars from that chapter are still part of me, and the memories will never completely disappear. But today, those scars are covered by something different. They are covered by a story of survival. The pain may remain in my memories, but the marks on my skin now tell a different story—a story of strength, courage, and a life that continued when I never thought it could.
My arm carries my story.
It carries my suffering.
It carries my tears.
It carries my trauma.
But it also carries my healing.
My courage.
My strength.
And the proof that I survived every moment that was meant to break me.
Every time I look at this tattoo, I see the battles I fought in silence. I see the nights nobody knew about. I see every moment I wanted to give up but somehow found the strength to keep going.
Even when I had no energy left.
Even when my heart was shattered.
Even when my soul was exhausted.
Even when I wanted to disappear.
I picked up my sword and kept fighting.
This tattoo represents the pain that shaped me, but more importantly, it represents the strength that pain created. It tells the story of a person who refused to stay down. A person who survived battles nobody knew were being fought.
The sword symbolizes every battle I have endured. The strength I had then and the strength I still carry today. It reminds me that I am stronger than I ever gave myself credit for.
It also represents my roots. No matter where life takes me, my heart and soul will always belong to Scotland. Scotland is part of who I am. My heritage, my blood, my spirit. The warrior within me was forged through struggle, and this tattoo carries that connection proudly.
Most importantly, this tattoo represents the people I love. The people who stood beside me when I was falling apart. The people who held me together when I couldn’t hold myself together. They became my strength when I had none left. For them, I kept fighting. For them, I survived.
The battles may never truly end, and some scars never completely heal. But today, when I look at this tattoo, I don’t just see pain.
I see survival.
I see resilience.
I see every tear that didn’t defeat me.
I see every scar that couldn’t destroy me.
I see every battle I thought would break me but didn’t.
I am a survivor.
I am a warrior.
I am stronger than I know.
And for the first time in a very long time, I am finding peace in the person I fought so hard to become.
This piece will be finished next week, and I cannot wait to see the final result. My tattoos are more than artwork. They tell my story. They tell the story of a warrior who suffered, who fell, who cried in silence, who carried unimaginable pain, but who refused to stay down.
I am still here. ❤️🏴
