🦠Don't forget to book in your annual flu vaccine!🦠

Influenza (flu) vaccination is recommended every year for anyone 6 months of age and over, to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with the flu.
As strains of the flu virus can change from year to year, receiving an annual flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself.

Woodcroft Medical Centre is offering dedicated flu vaccine clinics for our patients starting Monday 13th April with bookings for these appointments open now.

In line with the National Immunisation Program (NIP) the following groups are eligible for free flu vaccines:
💉 6mths - under 5yrs (a needle-free option, FluMist (nasal spray), is available for children aged 2-5)
💉 65+ years
💉 Certain medical conditions (see SA Health website for accepted conditions)
**All other patients, a $20 private vaccination fee will apply.

💉Woodcroft Medical Centre is proud to offer all Childhood Immunisations as a part of the National Immunisation Program (NIP).

From 6 weeks to 4 years old, our Registered Nurses are able to administer all government funded immunisations as well as provide aftercare instructions and any follow ups if required.

Our nurses can also provide catch-up schedules if you have missed any immunisations or have recently moved to Australia from overseas.

As of July 1st, the Capvaxive vaccine has replaced the previous Prevenar 13 & Pneumovax vaccines on the National Immunisation Program (NIP). Previously, these vaccines were only available to patients aged over 75 years but has now been reduced to patient's over 65 years old.

Pneumococcal disease is caused by infection with the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae. Infection can cause a variety of diseases including: pneumonia (infection of the lungs), otitis media (infection of the middle ear) and meningitis (infection of the membranes around the brain and spinal cord). Vaccination against Pneumococcal is the most effective way to prevent the spread and severity of the illness.

💉Are you 65 or older? You are eligible for a free Shingles vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP)!

Vaccination is the best protection against shingles. Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful, blistering rash. It is caused by the varicella zoster virus, which is the same virus that causes chickenpox. They can take several weeks to settle. In 1 in 10 people, the pain and tingling of shingles can last for months or even years.

Thinking of getting a Contraceptive Implant or needing yours changed? We are proud to offer both insertion and removal procedures for the contraceptive implant!

The contraceptive implant is a plastic rod that is inserted under the skin of the inner, upper arm to stop pregnancy by slowly releasing progestogen (this is similar to a natural hormone produced by the body). It is an extremely effective method of contraception (99.95%).

We encourage patients to book a consult with their GP to discuss their options and afterwards, our reception staff can book your procedure.

Are you or your family member 75 years or older? It's time to book your 75+ health assessment!

Woodcroft Medical Centre is proud to offer Medicare-Funded Comprehensive Health Assessments to all patients from the age of 75 and over. Health Assessments are a great way to take a look at your overall health, manage your medications, organise preventative health measures and help with aged care planning for the future.
Our wonderful registered nurses will sit and chat with you to discuss your needs and help you with any assistance you may need in and out of the home.
