A great morning of contributing and learning together in our Middle Years assembly today. Classes shared about the Australian poetry they have been enjoying reading in English lessons, their Orientation and Mobility lessons and overall fantastic engagement. Together we learnt about telling trusted people if we feel unsure or unsafe in our RESPECT program. We explored “Being Kind” in our “We Get Along at Narbethong” Narby Be values. Certificates were received for demonstrating kindness, trying new things with confidence, demonstrating curiosity, and great communication. Fabulous work everyone!

Book Week is coming up!

Dress up as your favourite book character and/or bring your favourite book to share with your classmates.

Special guest readers and musicians from the Alternative Format Library, Dotted Beats and Harpist John will visit us throughout the week.

Our seniors from Octagon and Crescent rooms came together for their assembly this morning. This round, our Narby Be theme was “Be Kind”. Learners thought of so many ways they and others demonstrate being kind and getting along with others as a senior student including sharing the work of tasks in senior projects and encouraging others. We celebrated senior achievements with “Narby Bee” certificates awarded for active participation and growing independence in transitions, confidently using PODD to express ideas and demonstrating resilience and positivity in learning activities. One of our seniors chose “Olivia Dean, Nice to Each Other” as the final song of assembly – a thoughtful choice enjoyed by our teenagers. Well done as always, Seniors!

It's support staff recognition week! 🎉

We are fortunate to have the most wonderful crew of support staff who dedicate each day to ensuring Narby learners have the resources and curriculum access they need to grow and shine.

We are grateful every day for the contributions of our admin team, business manager, school's officer, IT technician, guidance officer, social worker, and therapists. They are not just hard working, they are also a lovely, kind group of people to have in Team Narby.

Friday assembly celebration post and it’s the Junior Sector’s turn to shine today! Junior assembly is always full of communicating, sharing and music. A common theme today was acknowledging the great participation in Dance classes, which started this week. Teachers shared about learners confidently going to new places in the school for their Dance lessons and moving to music and giving opinions in the lessons. Congratulations to our learners pictured below and those who were away today and will receive their certificates next week. Great sharing and celebrating Junior classes!

Pyjama Day celebration post! Our small but generous school community raised $621 for the Pyjama Foundation at our PJ and Soup Day this year. Thank you to parent, Tash, for donating the staff raffle prize of a snuggly dressing gown (won by our fabulous cleaner, Dawn) and a soft and comfy PJ set (won by Teacher Helen). Thanks also to our soup makers and purchasers and everyone who got into the spirit of the day and dressed up. It’s the cutest day of the year! We love supporting The Pyjama Foundation and the work they do to support children in care and instil a love of learning. Special shout out to our Diamond 1 students and staff team for running the event and Teacher Elaine for soup organisation.
