This week is National Diabetes Week πŸ’š

Diabetes Australia is encouraging Australians to share their experiences through the theme Living Out Loud.

While many people associate diabetes with adults, diabetes can affect children and teenagers too. Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic health conditions diagnosed in childhood, and early recognition is important.

This week is an opportunity to raise awareness, support families living with diabetes, and encourage open conversations about the challenges and realities of managing the condition.

If you have concerns about your child's health, speak with your healthcare team.

This July, we proudly acknowledge National NAIDOC Week (5 - 12 July 2026).

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories, and to celebrate the oldest continuing cultures in the world.

Paeds in a Pod recognises the importance of fostering understanding, respect and connection for future generations, and we encourage families to take part in local events and activities throughout the week.

For family-friendly events and more information, visit the Local Events tab at https://www.naidoc.org.au/

Last Friday night, we hosted an introductory session focused on the realities of Private Practice. It was fantastic to connect with so many registrars and early career Paediatricians who are looking at their next professional steps.

While formal training programs provide exceptional clinical foundations, the practical aspects of working in private practice are rarely covered.

Thank you to the 20+ doctors who attended, asked insightful questions, and shared their perspectives. The future is bright, and we are excited to support the next generation of specialists navigating this path.

If you are interested in Private Practice, please send us a message and we can help you get started.
