🧡 Bullying No Way Week — Small Acts, Big Impact 🧡

This week, schools, families and communities across Australia have come together for Bullying No Way Week — and the ripple effects go way beyond one week in August.

Why it matters:

🗣️ It gives bullying a language. Kids and adults learn to name what bullying actually looks like — including the sneaky, online kind — so it's easier to spot and speak up about.
🤝 It turns bystanders into upstanders. The whole point of "Small Acts, Big Impact" is that you don't need a grand gesture — including someone at lunch, checking in on a mate, or simply saying "that's not okay" can change someone's entire day.
🏫 It builds safer, kinder school cultures. When a whole school community focuses on the same message at the same time, it sticks — respect and inclusion stop being abstract ideas and become the norm.
💚 It protects mental health. Bullying is linked to anxiety, depression and disengagement from school — prevention and early action save young people from real, lasting harm.
👨‍👩‍👧 It brings families into the conversation. Parents and carers get practical tools to talk with their kids about bullying, both at school and online.
🌏 It's a genuinely national effort. Government, Catholic and independent schools all take part, meaning the message reaches millions of students at once.
Bullying prevention isn't a one-week job — but weeks like this one remind us that small, everyday acts of kindness and courage add up to something big.

💬 What's one small act you can do today to make someone feel included?

radies National Health Month is an important initiative that shines a spotlight on the health and well-being of Australia's trade workers, who play a vital role in the country’s economy. Given the physical demands and potential hazards associated with their work, tradies are at a higher risk of injury and health issues. The best way to tackle these challenges is through prevention. This includes implementing proactive measures such as regular safety training, ergonomic assessments, and promoting a culture of safety on job sites. Additionally, encouraging tradies to prioritize their health by staying fit, seeking regular medical check-ups, and using proper protective gear can significantly reduce the risk of injuries. Organizations like Safe Work Australia provide valuable resources and guidelines to help prevent workplace injuries and promote safer work environments for tradies. For more information, you can visit their website.
By fostering an environment of awareness and prevention, we can support the health and safety of our hardworking tradies.

National Schizophrenia Awareness Day serves as an important reminder of the need to build understanding and empathy for those living with this complex mental health condition. Schizophrenia is often misunderstood, and the stigma surrounding it can be incredibly isolating for those affected. It is crucial that we challenge these misconceptions and foster an environment of compassion and support. By educating ourselves and others, we can dispel myths and encourage a more inclusive society where individuals with schizophrenia feel seen and heard. Empathy plays a key role in this process; by listening to and engaging with the lived experiences of those with schizophrenia, we can break down barriers and promote mental health awareness. Let’s use National Schizophrenia Awareness Day as an opportunity to advocate for change, spread kindness, and cultivate a world where everyone feels valued and understood.

The National NAIDOC Poster competition has become an iconic feature of National NAIDOC Week and has a rich and significant history beginning in 1967 when the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) first began producing posters. NAIDOC posters have been exhibited by various Australian cultural institutions such as the National Museum of Australia and reflect not only the many significant social changes that have occurred since 1967 but also the evolution of art over the years.
Each year the National NAIDOC Poster Competition encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged 18 years and over to submit their artwork which reflects that year's National NAIDOC Week Theme.
In recent years, the National NAIDOC Poster competition winning artists have been afforded numerous opportunities to work with organisations such as the Australian Open, Microsoft, The Project television show and various state travel authorities that have wrapped public transport vehicles in the winning artwork.

Selected from submissions across the country, Paralpi by Zaachariaha Fielding has been chosen as the official poster for National NAIDOC Week 2026.
Zaachariaha Fielding is a proud Yankunytjatjara man from the APY Lands in South Australia and is widely recognised as one of the country’s leading contemporary First Nations artists and musicians. Known internationally through the acclaimed music duo Electric Fields, his work brings together language, sound, visual storytelling and culture in deeply powerful and contemporary ways.
Paralpi reflects movement, energy and continuity, carrying the stories of Ancestors forward while celebrating the creativity and cultural power of the next generation. Rich in colour and symbolism, the artwork speaks to the enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the past 50 years of NAIDOC and beyond.
Through this work, Zaachariaha honours the resilience of community, the importance of language and identity, and the ongoing cultural renaissance being led by First Nations peoples across the country and across the APY Lands.

As we celebrate International Yoga Day on the 21st of June, it’s a perfect moment to embrace the profound benefits that yoga offers to the mind, body, and spirit. Yoga, an ancient practice, harmonizes the physical and mental realms through breath control, meditation, and postures that enhance strength, flexibility, and balance. For the mind, yoga acts as a sanctuary, reducing stress and anxiety while promoting mental clarity and focus. The body reaps the rewards of improved posture, increased energy levels, and enhanced overall physical health. Spiritually, yoga nurtures a deeper connection with oneself, fostering a sense of peace and tranquility, and encouraging a mindful approach to life. As we unfurl our yoga mats this International Yoga Day, let us celebrate the unity of mind, body, and spirit, and the boundless potential for holistic well-being.

Pride Month is a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and inclusivity within families plays a crucial role in fostering acceptance and love. When families embrace the diversity within their members, they create a nurturing environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Celebrating Pride Month with family can involve participating in local events, educating one another about LGBTQ+ history and issues, or simply having open and supportive conversations. This inclusivity not only strengthens family bonds but also empowers individuals to live authentically. By fostering acceptance and understanding, families can become powerful allies in the ongoing journey toward equality and respect for all.
