18–24 May 2026

It’s officially the week where we celebrate the incredible humans who voluntarily give up their time, sleep, weekends and occasionally their sanity… all to help others. 😂☕🚑

A massive THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers at St John WA – Wundowie Subcentre and our dedicated Wundowie Youth Academy leaders. 💚

These legends are the people who:
✔️ Drop everything when our Mobicall goes off
✔️ Brave cold nights, long shifts and community events
✔️ Support patients and families on some of their hardest days
✔️ Spend countless hours training and mentoring others
✔️ Somehow survive on coffee, servo snacks and pure determination ☕😂

From emergency call-outs and event coverage, to community engagement, fundraising, Academy nights and supporting local events — our volunteers are the heart of our community.

To our Youth Academy leaders — thank you for investing your time into guiding and mentoring the next generation of volunteers and community leaders. Your support and encouragement truly make a difference. 💚

Volunteering isn’t always easy, but it’s one of the most rewarding things a person can do, and our community is incredibly lucky to have such passionate and caring people willing to step up when needed.

So this week, if you see one of our volunteers around town, give them a wave, say thank you… or better yet, buy them a coffee. Trust us, they probably need it. ☕🚑💚

Today, Volunteers from St John WA – Wundowie Subcentre and the Wundowie Academy Team Members had the honour of attending the Northam YES Cadets Firefighter Memorial Service held in recognition of International Firefighters’ Day. ❤️🖤 💚

This meaningful service recognised and honoured firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving their communities.

Our Academy Team Members were privileged to take part in a practice drill with the Northam YES Cadets and proudly joined the parade during the ceremony.

Two of our Academy Team Members also participated in the wreath laying ceremony as a mark of respect for the fallen.

We are incredibly proud of the professionalism, respect and maturity shown by all of our young people throughout the day. Opportunities like this help teach the importance of service, sacrifice, leadership and community.

A huge thank you to DFES and the Northam YES Cadets for the invitation to be part of such a special and important occasion.

This morning, our St John Youth Academy Team Members had the honour of attending the Wundowie ANZAC Day Service, supported and mentored by our dedicated Wundowie Volunteer Ambulance Officers and St John WA Academy Team Leaders.

Guided by their leaders, our team members took part in raising the flag alongside their fellow Wundowie Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service Members and the Wundowie Police Sergeant, as well as laying a wreath — a proud and meaningful moment for each of them.

It was wonderful to see our Subcentre Volunteers mentoring the next generation, sharing their knowledge, values, and commitment to service. Through this guidance, our young people stepped forward with confidence, showing respect, pride, and professionalism throughout the ceremony.

This is what our program is all about — building strong community connections and living the value of Service to Humanity 💚

Hey everyone 💚
We just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who reached out to support the St John WA Youth Academy vegetable garden 🌱
After a bit of a rocky first attempt, the support from our community has been incredible — and this project is now coming together beautifully for our kids.
This will be a special surprise for our Academy members when they arrive for training on Thursday. We wanted to show them what community really looks like — people stepping in to help, support, and lift each other up when it’s needed most 💚
It’s also our way of saying thank you to the kids for showing up each week and giving 100% to their training. We see the effort you’re putting in, and we truly appreciate it — including the work you’ve already started on the garden 🌱
A very special thank you to our amazing sponsors Sarah Nottle and the parents from Mauravillo Estate, along with the Xavier and Versoza Acosta families, for offering their help and donating much-needed garden items 🙌
