On Friday we will be announcing the recipients of the first of our ETAA Annual Awards. This has been an extremely exciting time for the Equine Therapies Association of Australia and its members. We love nothing more than to see amazing equine therapists be recognised for their outstanding work, but even better is to see a community of professionals get around each other and celebrate each other's success. While we can only award one person from each category, every single one of the award finalists deserve to be congratulated!

How often should my horse have bodywork?

⬇️⬇️

This is a question I’m asked quite often, so here's a bit of a guide:

Generally, If a horse is in full work it’s recommended a scheduled maintenance, general check-in once every 4-6 weeks.

If the horse is in light work: 4-8 weeks.

If the horse is turned out or only ridden occasionally: 8-12 weeks.

This is only used as a guide as it all depends on my findings and your budget as well.

There are times you may need sessions sooner than scheduled if you notice something is not quite right I.e stiffness, reluctant to go on the right lead, behaviour changes.

Maintaining your horse’s muscle health helps prevent injuries, keeps them feeling comfortable and performing at their absolute best. Supple muscles are healthy muscles 🐎

From 9hh ponies to 18hh draught horses, broodmares that have recently foaled and standing stallions etc. they can all enjoy a long list of benefits from equine bodywork, they don't have to be ridden horses!

Wishing all our clients and Tasmanian competitors a fantastic, safe & successful ride at this years Stirling’s Crossing Tom Quilty Gold Cup in QLD.

Will you be tuning in at midnight to watch them ride out?

After being there when they rode out last year here in Tassie, there is just nothing quite like it 🤩🐎
