Why is Men’s Group important? 👣💙

For Men’s Health Week 2026, we asked some of the men from our Guri Ngura Men’s Group what the group means to them and how it supports their mental health and wellbeing.

Their answers say it best.

We are starting up a Dad’s Yarning Circle! A monthly space for men who walk alongside Aboriginal children and young people in a caring role.

This is a space for Dads, Pops, Uncles and strong male kin to come together, sit down, yarn, and connect with one another.

A space to:

• Share stories, knowledge and experiences

• Support each other in the important role of caring for our kids

• Strengthen connection, culture and community

• Have a yarn in a safe, respectful and welcoming place

This yarning circle is about coming together in a good way. No judgement, just respect, listening and shared strength.

We look forward to bringing men together each month to yarn, learn and support one another in the journey of raising up strong young people.

For more details, or to register your interest, contact Wheturangi in our Child & Family team on 02 4351 1040, email [email protected] or message us here.

Today we recognise Mabo Day — a significant moment in Australia’s history that acknowledged the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to their land.

We honour the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, whose determination and strength led to the historic 1992 decision that overturned terra nullius and recognised native title.

At Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Services, we acknowledge the importance of connection to Country, culture, and community in supporting social and emotional wellbeing.
