Our guest speaker at today's General Meeting was Elizabeth Roberts who gave a fascinating and informative presentation on The Great North Road. Elizabeth took us through the history of this remarkable road, built by convicts from the 1820's and shared stories of some of the men whose hard work created what is now recognised as part of a World Heritage listed site. Elizabeth is a member of the Convict Trail Project, which works to preserve and promote this important part of our Convict heritage. President Lynda also presented Kerrie Metcalfe with her 25 year membership certificate. Kerrie is a past President and a hard working stalwart of our group who has contributed so much over the years. Congratulations Kerrie on a wonderful milestone !

Regina and I enjoyed a brilliant seminar at MHNSW on vital records after a warm welcome from Martyn Killion we were delighted to hear from the following speakers, Louise Briffa from NSW birth deaths and marriages about how the registry started way back and the changes over the years. Also what a certificate can tell us. This was followed by a tasty morning tea, which we enjoyed in the sunshine which was beautiful and warm after a rather cold start. After morning tea Heather Garnsey OAM took us through Baptism, marriage and burials using church records Heather is a wonderful speaker and her presentation was a pleasure to listen to. Thanit was back in the sun for lunch and some fresh air.
Next was Angela Phippen who spoke about Divorce records this was another excellent talk and the presentation was informative and entertaining. The last speaker was archivist Laura Daaboul who talked about sources for tracing deaths in NSW. We had a great day with great speakers and the opportunity to catch up with genemates. At 3 pm we set off on our journey back to the Central Coast after a most pleasant day. Well done MHNSW and thank you for a great day.
