πŸ’™ National Diabetes Week 2026 πŸ’™ 12 - 18 July

This National Diabetes Week, we’re helping raise awareness about diabetes and the importance of early detection, ongoing care and support within our community.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how the body processes glucose (sugar) in the blood. It can affect people of all ages and, if left undiagnosed or poorly managed, may lead to serious health complications.

🩺 National Diabetes Week is an important reminder to:
β€’ Know your risk factors
β€’ Recognise the signs and symptoms
β€’ Keep up with regular health checks
β€’ Seek support to manage diabetes and protect your long-term health

Some common signs of diabetes can include increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained tiredness, blurred vision or slow-healing wounds. However, some people may have no obvious symptoms at all.

At Yackandandah Health Medical Centre, our doctors and nursing team are here to support you with diabetes risk assessments, health checks and ongoing chronic disease management.

πŸ’™ If you are concerned about your risk of diabetes or are due for a health check, please contact our friendly reception team to book an appointment.

Awareness, early detection and ongoing care can make a real difference.

πŸ“’ Community Update – Parking & Bus Stops

We would like to sincerely apologise for the frustration and inconvenience surrounding the new bus stops located out the front of Yackandandah Health Medical Centre.

We completely understand the concerns being raised regarding the significant reduction in available parking for both the Medical Centre and Aged Care. Please understand that the placement and changes to the bus stops were not a decision made by Yackandandah Health or Medical Centre, but were part of works and decisions made by VicRoads.

We hear your concerns and share your frustrations. πŸ’™

Please know that we are actively working together with the relevant parties to explore solutions and create more manageable and accessible parking options for our patients, residents, families, visitors and the wider community.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding and support while we work towards a solution.

πŸ“’ Important Medicare Changes from 1 July 2026

From 1 July 2026, new Medicare requirements will come into effect regarding patient consent for Bulk Billing services.

While Yackandandah Health Medical Centre is not a bulk billing clinic, there are occasions where Bulk Billing may apply for specific services or eligible patients. Under the new Medicare rules, consent must be obtained whenever a Bulk Billed service is provided.

To meet these requirements, we will be sending automatic messages via HotDoc before or after your appointment requesting your consent where applicable. This consent must be completed before leaving the clinic to ensure Medicare claims can be processed correctly.

For our nursing home residents, the nominated Next of Kin or authorised representative will be contacted via email or text message to provide consent on the patient's behalf when required.

We understand that these changes may create some challenges, particularly for those who are less familiar with technology. Please don't worry – our team is here to help. If you have any questions or need assistance completing the consent process, please contact the clinic and we will happily guide you through it.

Over the coming weeks, you may also receive information from us via HotDoc messages, email, SMS, or in-clinic notices as we prepare for these changes.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adapt to these Medicare requirements and continue to provide quality care to our community.

πŸ“’ Important Update for Our Patients – Medicare Changes from 1st July 2026

From 1st July 2026, there will be upcoming changes to Medicare that may affect how you receive information and services at our clinic.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing important updates with you via HotDoc messages and email, so please keep an eye out for any communication from us.

⚠️ Please be cautious:
If you receive any correspondence that you are unsure about or that seems unfamiliar, we strongly encourage you to contact our clinic directly to confirm before taking any action.

πŸ”’ Your safety is our priority. Unfortunately, scams are increasingly common, and we want to ensure all our patients feel confident and protected.

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to give us a call on 02 60280130- we’re here to help.
