We’ve been taught to fear the collapse.
The moment the marriage feels hollow, the career stops meaning anything, the body starts crying in the car park for no reason you can name.
We call it a crisis and reach for something to numb it - a new job, a renovation, a distraction big enough to drown out the question underneath.

But the nervous system doesn’t break down at random. When the coping mechanisms that carried you through your twenties and thirties suddenly stop working, that’s not failure. That’s your system running out of capacity to keep performing a life that was never fully yours.

I left a stable engineering career and salary at forty-four. Not because I had a plan. Because the parts of me I’d shelved to be reliable, competent, acceptable started knocking louder than the parts of me trying to keep the whole structure standing.

Crisis is what it looks like from the outside. From the inside, it’s an unlived life asking to be reclaimed — the woman who buried her intuition to be taken seriously, the one who kept performing calm long after her body stopped believing it.

Regulation has to come first. You cannot hear what’s asking to emerge while your system is still in survival mode. But once the nervous system settles enough to listen, the questions that surface -who am I underneath the roles, what did I abandon to be loved -aren’t a breakdown. They’re the beginning of becoming who you actually are.

The life on the other side isn’t safer. It’s realer. That’s the trade.💚

I was folding washing yesterday. Physically there with hands moving, clothes stacking. But my mind was three conversations ahead, replaying one from this morning, drafting a message I hadn’t sent yet.

Twenty minutes passed. And I couldn’t tell you a single thing about them.

That’s the waste. Not the folding. Not the twenty minutes themselves. The waste is being somewhere and not actually being there. Your body in one place, awareness scattered across a dozen others.

We waste time when we are not present in a moment.
Yes, it sounds simple. But I t’s not easy to live.
High-functioning women are especially good at this kind of absence- ha! we call it multitasking, we call it staying ahead, we call it being efficient. But a mind running five timelines at once isn’t efficient. It’s a nervous system that hasn’t learned how to land.

Presence isn’t about doing less. It’s about being where your hands already are.

Tonight, pick one ordinary thing-the dishes, brushing your teeth, the goodnight to your kids and give it your whole attention. Because it’s the only place time actually exists.💚

There are many beautiful men in the world to hold us, women.
Have you met them yet?

Why simply telling yourself “don’t buy it” can become an exhausting battle?
Because you’re trying to stop a behaviour without understanding the need underneath it.

The more I learned about the nervous system, the more I started seeing my own urges differently.

Instead of:

“Why am I doing this again?”

I could ask:

“What am I actually needing right now?”

That question changes everything.

Because maybe you don’t need to buy something.

Maybe you need to rest.

Maybe you need to feel safe.

Maybe you need connection.

Maybe you need pleasure, novelty or excitement.

Maybe you just need to pause long enough to let your nervous system come back into balance.

Meet the need underneath the urge, and the behaviour can begin to change naturally.

This is the work I teach women every day:

Not more self-control.

More self-awareness.
More nervous system regulation.
More compassion for what’s really happening underneath.

💛 Comment CHEATSHEET and I’ll send you my cheat sheet that maps urge → need → what actually helps.
