Myotherapy is a form of muscle therapy which focus on the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may cause muscular dysfunction and pain thus affecting movement and mobility. A range of treatment techniques are performed by a Myotherapist to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia). Trigger p

oints within muscles are an example of muscle dysfunction that can cause deep aching pain, local tenderness, referred pain limiting strength and flexibility. A Myotherapist will utilise palpation skills to identify trigger points and deactivate them using various soft tissue manipulation techniques. These modalities may include: trigger point therapy, dry needling, cupping, deep tissue massage, hot and cold therapies, passive/active muscle stretching, electro-mechanical stimulation and corrective or rehabilitative exercises.
