Mischa was hard at it yesterday with a huge day of learning and networking at the Annual Practitioner Seminar in Brisbane.

We talked all things pelvic pain including:
- PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, recently renamed from PCOS to better reflect the ACTUAL condition which affects whole-body metabolic and hormone factors, not just the ovaries!)
- Period pain in teens, and how to manage it better, earlier
- GLP-1 RAs update (unfortunately no hard evidence for it helping pelvic pain right now)
- Pelvic pain as a common feature of chronic overlapping pain conditions, including other symptoms like migraine, TMJ, IBS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, bladder pain syndrome, vulvodynia and back pain (we see this a lot, sometimes with EDS/POTS thrown in the mix)
- Research updates into endometriosis testing (urine and blood tests emerging - watch this space!).

Well done to MC Alex Diggles and all the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia crew for a fabulous event, and cheers to all the stall holders (including for shouting the coffee cart 😅)

Birth Trauma Australia have just launched this amazing FREE service to postnatal women struggling with symptoms postpartum.

A great starting point if access to local services is challenging or if financial constraints are a barrier for you to get help.

More information and online bookings for the service here: https://birthtrauma.org.au/free-online-pelvic-health-support/

**Please note, we are not affiliated with the project in any way, we just think it's awesome and wanted to share - and we encourage you to share, too!
If you want to work directly with us, in conjunction with our clinics in Rocky, Yeppoon, Gladstone and Biloela, we also offer telehealth services via phone or video link ❤

FREE TELEHEALTH pelvic physiotherapy for women+ with birth injuries and ongoing conditions.

Many women+ experiencing birth-related trauma are left managing physical injuries or ongoing conditions without access to support.

Pelvic floor dysfunction, incontinence, prolapse, and ongoing pain often go undiagnosed or untreated, especially for women+ who face barriers such as location, cost, or may not know the benefits of pelvic health physiotherapy.

Our new ThinkNatal™ Pelvic Physio Support Service is designed to change that.

FREE 45-minute telehealth appointments with a qualified Pelvic Health Physiotherapist give women+ the opportunity to speak one-on-one with a specialist who understands the physical impacts of birth-related trauma and can offer early guidance, reassurance, and pathways for recovery.

All details including eligibility and booking an appointment are on our website 💙

✨QPPN Rockhampton Event Success✨

Thanks to Dietitian Amy Coen from Nerva Health for coming all the way from Melbourne this week to speak at our Rockhampton QPPN catch-up on all things pelvic pain - with a colorectal/GI twist!

We heard from Amy about the potential role of gut hypnotherapy for IBS management, and how the Nerva program can help in reducing symptoms (shown to be equally effective as the low FODMAP diet after 6 weeks!).

Huge shout out to our local guest speaker, Colorectal Specialist Dr Michael Lamparelli for generously imparting his extensive knowledge and expertise, including on pelvic floor disorders affecting evacuation and pelvic pain conditions. Dr Lamparelli also spoke on the role of Botox for management alongside pelvic floor physiotherapy and biofeedback training (🤩 music to our ears).

Our very own Pelvic Fix Physio, Mischa Bongers - and local QPPN Committee Rep - then gave the low-down on the role of physiotherapy in GI/colorectal/pain patient presentations (and FYI it's not JUST about those pelvic floor exercises!).

Some great multidisciplinary discussions from the group, which included GPs, medical students, a consultant psychiatrist, and physios. A great opportunity to collaborate and learn together, and build some valuable referral relationships to improve our local patients' access to the best person-centred, multidisciplinary care possible.

Thanks to the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia for supporting our QPPN events, Nerva: gut-brain therapy for sponsoring, and The Edge Rockhampton for hosting us.

👉 If you have tried the Nerva program for your IBS symptoms, or want to know more, we'd love to hear from you!

🤸‍♀️⛹️‍♀️Cat's been busy at the Women in Sport Congress in Brisbane this week🏋️‍♀️🤾‍♀️

And look who she ran into! SRC Health were one of the sponsors for this amazing event, promoting sporting excellence in female athletes of all ages and abilities.

(We love SRC for their support garments in pregnancy, postpartum and beyond, and recommend them aaaaaall the time in clinic for pelvic floor/core and pelvic pain issues - they can be a real life-saver in conjunction with your physio treatment plan!)

Cat had a great chat with Lisa from SCR about their exciting new research showing the benefits of SRC compression tights in managing the symptoms of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Orthostatic Intolerance.
