September is , and we're taking the opportunity to remind men and their families that support is available.

Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in Australia. While every experience is different, knowing your risk and feeling comfortable talking about your prostate health can help you make more informed decisions.

Family, friends, health professionals and support groups can all play an important role throughout diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

This month, we're encouraging people to learn more about prostate cancer, start conversations and support the men in their lives.

If you are overdue book now…..

A future without cervical cancer starts with prevention, and cervical screening is one of the most effective ways to protect your health đź’ś

If you're a woman aged 25 to 74, you only need a Cervical Screening Test every 5 years. You can choose the screening option that suits you best: a doctor or nurse can collect your sample, or you can self-collect using a simple vaginal swab.

Even having just one Cervical Screening Test can provide significant protection compared to never being screened.

This start a conversation about cervical screening with the women in your life.

đź’™ Have you thought about your future healthcare wishes?

Medcirc Young
Helping you plan for your future healthcare with confidence and peace of mind. đź’™

An Advance Care Directive (ACD) allows you to record your wishes about the healthcare and treatment you would like to receive if you become seriously ill or injured and are unable to make or communicate your own decisions.

Having these conversations early can help ensure your family, carers and healthcare team understand what matters most to you. 🩵

It’s never too early to start planning ahead.

From 1 October 2026, COVID-19 booster vaccines will only be free for:

🔹 People aged 65 years and over
🔹 First Nations peoples aged 50 years and over
🔹 People aged 18 years and over with severe immunocompromise

COVID-19 vaccination remains important for these groups. In Australia in 2026, COVID-19 has caused more adult hospitalisations and deaths than influenza.

If you won't be eligible for a free booster after 1 October, you will still be able to purchase a vaccine. If appropriate for you, consider speaking with your healthcare provider now about whether a free booster before the program changes is right for you.
