A Veggie Adventure!

Inspired by the story of Ikri and Tuktuki's garden hunt for potatoes, our Cubs got hands-on with real vegetables from the tale. They learned each one's Bangla name, then peeled and tasted boiled sweet potatoes and regular potatoes side by side to compare.

What they learned:
🥔 Some vegetables grow underground, while others grow above the soil
🗣️ The Bangla names for everyday vegetables like cauliflower, eggplant, and radish
👅 How sweet potatoes and regular potatoes differ in taste and texture

Skills built: vocabulary building, sensory exploration, fine motor skills (peeling), listening comprehension, and early cause-and-effect thinking (raw vegetable to boiled food).

At Dandelionz, we believe real growth happens when the child, the parent, and our team work as one triangle — which is why empowering parents is just as important to us as nurturing children.

Last week, we hosted a special sharing session with Tarana Anis, Sr. Child Psychologist & Psychotherapist at Evercare Hospital, Dhaka, on "Understanding & Navigating Tantrums."

Parents of our preschoolers came together to explore:

💚 The science behind tantrums — and why they're a completely normal part of early development
💚 That anger is a valid emotion — the goal isn't to suppress it, but to learn how to regulate it
💚 Practical stress-relief techniques they can use in the moment — punching pillows, tearing paper, twisting a towel, breathing exercises, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
💚 That there's no shame in a tantrum — and no judgment in asking for support

What made the session truly special was watching our parent community open up — sharing their fears, their low points, their real struggles — without hesitation, without judgment. That's the kind of community we're building at Dandelionz.

Because when parents feel supported, children feel it too.

What looks like "just play" is actually his little hand mastering the pincer grasp — the exact grip he'll need later to hold a pencil, button his own shirt, and pick up his own food. Every poke is building the hand strength and coordination that writing depends on years down the line.

This week at Dandelionz, we taught the color brown with clay instead of flashcards. The children squished it, rolled it, shaped it into letters and little sculptures — and somewhere in all that mess, "brown" stopped being a word and became something they actually understood.

So if your child comes home talking about squishy brown clay (and possibly with clay still under their nails 😅), that's not just messy play. That's how learning is supposed to look at this age — hands first, words later.

Next time you're out together, point to something brown — soil, bark, a cup of tea — and ask what it reminds them of. You might be surprised what they remember.

Watch closely and you'll see two of them negotiating who places the next piece, pointing out where a feature should go, and checking in with each other along the way.

This back-and-forth — the sharing, the little disagreements, the "here, you try" moments — is exactly how young children build social-emotional skills like turn-taking, communication, and cooperative play. The dough is just the excuse; the real learning is happening between them.

This is what early development actually looks like — not neat lines or "correct" shapes, but little hands exploring, experimenting, and making sense of the world one chalk stroke at a time.

At Dandelionz, we don't rush children toward the "right" way to hold a crayon or draw a shape. We give them the wall, the chalk, and the freedom — because that's where real learning begins. Bloom anywhere.

At Dandelionz, we believe children don't all learn the same way — so we don't teach the same way either.

Why so many ways to teach one idea?

Because young children learn best when a concept is repeated through different senses and movements — touch, sight, motion, and real-world connection. What looks like "just play" is actually the brain building the same understanding from several directions at once, until it truly sticks.

🌙 Bedtime came to Curious Cubs this week!

Since story time was all about bedtime, our Cubs came dressed in their pajamas, favourite soft toy in hand. We set the scene with a cozy bed and pillows to make it feel just like home — then settled in for a storytelling session brought to life with puppets and plushies.

After the story, the Cubs coloured their own bedtime scene, adding their own touch to what they'd just heard.

That's what a Curious Cubs evening looks like — pajamas, soft toys, a story, and a little bit of art, all before the evening winds down. 🌼
