Unico Hospital celebrated World Family Doctor Day 2026 in collabortion with Society of Family Medicine, Bangladesh, through a special program recognizing the invaluable contributions of family physicians in delivering comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered healthcare services to the community.
As part of the celebration, Dr. Lt. Colonel (Retd.) Md. Kabir Ahmed Khan delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the pivotal role of family medicine in preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, chronic disease management, and long-term patient wellbeing. Referring to this year’s theme declared by the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) — “Compassionate Care in a Digital World” — he emphasized the growing importance of maintaining empathy, human connection, and patient-centered care alongside the rapid advancement of digital healthcare technologies. He also underscored the crucial role of family physicians in strengthening the overall healthcare systems and building a healthier society through accessible, continuous, and compassionate medical care.
The program was also addressed by CEO Ardra Kurien, who reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to advancing patient-centered healthcare services and raising public awareness regarding the significance of family medicine in modern healthcare delivery.
Among the distinguished attendees were Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. Sharif Ahmed, members of the senior management team, physicians, members of the Society of Family Medicine, Bangladesh, nurses, and employees of the hospital.
The celebration reflected the hospital’s deep appreciation for the dedication, compassion, and essential contributions of family doctors in ensuring quality healthcare for individuals, families, and communities.
