I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prof. Wadudul Hoque Tarafder, Principal, Prof. Jewell, Ex-Principal, and Associate Prof. Reza for entrusting me with conducting the Basic Ilizarov Workshop along with my fellow colleagues (Dr. Shetu, Dr. Arif, Dr. Hamid, Dr. Munir, Dr. Mostafa, Dr. Abdullah, Dr. Mainuddin, Dr. Maruf).
It was truly an honour to be given the opportunity to provide an invaluable service by educating, inspiring, and uplifting budding orthopedic surgeons and the new generation of students, while strengthening the Ilizarov technique in the Bogura region. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this remarkable journey.

I feel deeply honoured and humbled, together with my team, to have been part of this Basic Ilizarov Sawbones Workshop and Live Surgery over the last two days. The Ilizarov method has occupied a special place in my heart since my residency in 1982, and throughout my 43-year career, I have witnessed its profound impact on young surgeons. To see the same passion and dedication reflected in the faces of today’s orthopedic trainees fills me with hope for the future of this field in Bangladesh.

The hospitality extended by the Orthopedic Department was truly wonderful, and we were delighted by the rich academic activities of the enthusiastic young surgeons. Our stay at MOMO Inn, a five-star hotel, was a memorable experience in itself — a beautiful place with vast landscapes, providing the perfect backdrop for such an important academic event.

It is heartening to see how Ilizarov surgery in Bangladesh has progressed — in fact, it has reached a standard that is equal to, if not better than, many other countries. We are fortunate to have visionary and steadfast leadership in this field, guiding us towards excellence. The two days spent at Bogura SZMC were indeed special and will be remembered as a milestone.

By applying the Ilizarov technique to injured and deformed patients, we bring not only physical healing but also a sense of peace, joy, and beauty to their lives. When our patients find relief and restoration, we too find inner peace. Each deed in this noble work carries its own reward, and we are reminded that by serving humanity through medicine, we are serving a higher purpose.

The challenges of congenital and acquired deformities are immense, but together, in Bangladesh, we have the strength and expertise to face them. If we cultivate inner peace through the philosophy and methodology of Ilizarov, then naturally peace and compassion will blossom in the wider world.

Once again, I express my deepest gratitude to the Department of Orthopaedics for their dedication, hospitality, and support in making this workshop a resounding success.
