এই প্রথম ম্যালেরিয়ার টিকা অনুমোদন দিল বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা।
১০০ বছরেরও বেশি সময় ধরে গবেষণার পর অবশেষে অনুমোদন পেল এই টিকা।

বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার মহাপরিচালক তেদ্রোস বলেন, " শিশুদের জন্য ম্যালেরিয়া টিকার প্রতীক্ষা বহু দিনের। বিজ্ঞান, শিশু স্বাস্থ্য ও ম্যালেরিয়া নিয়ন্ত্রণে এটা যুগান্তকারী ঘটনা। এই টিকা প্রতিবছর লাখো মানুষের জীবন বাঁচাতে পারে।"
