Clean the skin for 30 seconds with alcohol → then scrub with chlorhexidine.
✔ Cuts contamination by 60%.

Use two-site collection (different veins).
✔ Increases detection rate.

Don’t touch the puncture site after disinfecting.
✔ Most common cause of false positives.

Fill the aerobic bottle first if using butterfly needle.
✔ Air present in tubing enters aerobic bottle only.
