Heel Spur
➡A heel spur is a small bony growth that can form on the heel bone.
➡It is often linked with plantar fascia strain or plantar fasciitis, which causes pain at the bottom of the heel.
➡Some heel spurs cause pain, but many are found on X-ray and cause no symptoms.
Common signs and symptoms
➡ Heel pain
Pain is usually felt at the bottom of the heel.
➡Pain with first steps
Pain is often worse when taking the first steps in the morning.

Pressing the underside of the heel may hurt.
➡Worse after activity

➡Limping
Some people change the way they walk to avoid pain.
Management
➡Rest and reduce strain
Limit activities that worsen heel pain, especially running or prolonged standing.
➡Stretching exercises
Regular calf and plantar fascia stretching can help reduce tension.
➡Supportive footwear
Wear cushioned shoes with good arch support.
➡Heel pads or orthotics
Shoe inserts may reduce pressure on the heel.
➡Ice and pain relief
Ice packs and doctor-advised pain medicines may help reduce pain.
➡ Physiotherapy if needed
A physiotherapist can guide stretching, strengthening, and gait correction.
➡See a doctor if persistent
Medical care may include further evaluation, physiotherapy, injections in selected cases, or rarely surgery.
When to seek medical advice
➡See a doctor if heel pain is severe, persistent, worsening, or affecting walking.
➡Get checked early if there is swelling, redness, fever, numbness, diabetes, recent injury, or inability to bear weight.
