Academic Exchange Strengthens Collaboration Between Alo Bhubon Trust & BMU.
26 April 2026- An academic visit was successfully held under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) and Alo Bhubon Trust, marking a significant step in strengthening collaborative academic and research activities.
As part of this initiative, an invited international expert, Prof. Dr. Eduard E. Zijlstra, MSc, DTM&H, PhD, FRCP, FRCPath visited Bangladesh at the invitation of Alo Bhubon Trust and attended the Department of Public Health and Informatics (DPHI) at BMU.
Prof. Dr. Eduard is an internationally recognized expert in internal medicine, infectious diseases, and tropical medicine. He has extensive field experience, including work with MSF-Holland in Sudan on kala-azar programs. Since 1990, he has conducted clinical and epidemiological research on kala-azar and post-kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL).
The visit included a faculty meeting and academic sessions attended by students of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
Prof. Dr. M Atiqul Haque, Chairman, Department of Public Health and Informatics and Dean, Faculty of Preventive and Social Medicine shared insights into BMU’s academic excellence, ongoing research activities, and the role of DPHI in advancing public health education in Bangladesh.
A productive discussion followed, focusing on communicable diseases and broader global health challenges. A special academic session on non-communicable diseases, with particular emphasis on neglected tropical diseases, was also conducted. The sessions provided an interactive platform for students to engage directly with the international expert, enhancing their understanding of real-world public health challenges and global perspectives.
This initiative was undertaken by Dr. Farzana Islam on behalf of DPHI, BMU, in collaboration with Prof. Anupama Azhari of Alo Bhubon Trust, and facilitated by Dr. Maruf Haque Khan, Assistant Professor, DPHI.
The program was attended by Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque (Assistant Professor, Medical Education), along with lecturers Dr. Jannatara Shefa, Dr. Fatema, Dr. Sumaiya Efa, and Research Associate Dr. Tanjila Bushra, all of whom actively participated in the meeting and academic sessions.
The visit highlighted the importance of international academic collaboration and provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing between global experts and local faculty and students.

We are thrilled to share the successful completion of our 9th Hands-on Workshop (HW-09), "Advances in Contemporary Cancer Care: Integrated Radiotherapy Practice for Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncologists," held from April 8–11, 2026, at the TMSS Cancer Center in Bogura, Bangladesh.

By transforming theoretical knowledge into measurable clinical skills, HW-09 has directly contributed to elevating the standard of cancer care and treatment precision in the South Asia region.

Today marked the beginning of the 9th Hands-on Workshop (HW-09) on "Advances in Contemporary Cancer Care: Integrated Radiotherapy Practice for Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncologists " at the TMSS Cancer Center. It has been an incredible start to this four-day journey focused on integrating radiotherapy practices.

We are honored to share that Prof. Dr. Hasin Anupama Azhari, General Secretary of Alo Bhubon Trust (AloBT), recently paid a distinguished courtesy visit to the TMSS Cancer Center (TCC) in Bogura upon a special invitation.
