প্রাইভেট মেডিকেল নিয়ে অনেকের অনেক মতামত থাকলেও, আমি নিজের চোখে দেখেছি CBMCB -এর শিক্ষার্থীরা বিভিন্ন জায়গায় সেরা স্থানেই রয়েছেন। আলহামদুলিল্লাহ। আমি নিজেও আল্লাহর রহমতে আমার বিভাগে সেরা।

আমরা তিন ভাই-বোন। দুই ভাই এবং একজন বোন। আমি সবার ছোট। আমার বড় ভাই জন্মগতভাবে বোবা। বাবা সরকারি চাকরি করতেন, কাজ করতেন জুট মিলে। বাবা-মায়ের দুজনেরই স্বপ্ন ছিল, তাদের এক ছেলে ও মেয়েকে চিকিৎসক বানাবেন।

আমার বড় বোন ভর্তি হলো CBMC-তে, CB-5 ব্যাচে। বোনের ভর্তি নিয়েও বাবার তেমন কোনো সমস্যা হয়নি। যা প্রোমিনেন্ট ফান্ডে ছিল, তা দিয়েই বোনকে ভর্তি করিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন।

কিন্তু আমার ভর্তি করানোর সময় বাবাকে একটু সমস্যায় পড়তে হলো। বাবা বলতেন, “আমার দুই ছেলে-মেয়ে যদি ডাক্তার হতে পারে, তবে আমি সবকিছু দিয়ে দিতেও প্রস্তুত।” সেই বিশ্বাস থেকেই তিনি নিজের জমি বিক্রি করে আমাদের পড়াশোনার ব্যবস্থা করলেন। আমরা দুই ভাই-বোন CBMC-এর ছাত্র হতে পেরে গর্ববোধ করি।
প্রাইভেট মেডিকেলে পড়তে গিয়ে অনেক আত্মীয়স্বজনের চেনা-জানা হয়ে যায়। আমি যখন ৩য় বর্ষে, তখন বাবার একটু আর্থিক সংকট দেখা দেয়। তিনি তখন কারও কাছে সাহায্য চাইলে, কেউ কেউ অত্যন্ত কটু ভাষায় কথা বলেছিলেন— বলেছিলেন, “ডাক্তারি যখন পড়াতে গেছেন, তখন আমাদের কিছু না বলে গেলেন কেন?” বাবা এসব কথায় ভীষণ কষ্ট পেয়েছিলেন। তবুও বাবা-মা কোনোদিন আমাদের আত্মীয়স্বজনের কথায় থেমে যাননি। আজ আমি রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজে মানুষের সেবায় নিয়োজিত। আল্লাহ বাবা-মায়ের কষ্ট বৃথা যেতে দেননি।

প্রথম বর্ষের কথা বলি। তখন Ratan Sir আমাদের অ্যানাটমি পড়াতেন, Sharif Sir ও Beauty madam হিস্টোলজিতে, আর Turin Sir ফিজিওলজিতে ছিলেন আমাদের পথপ্রদর্শক। তাঁরা সবসময় বলতেন, “ভালোভাবে পড়াশোনা করতে হবে।”

ফাইনাল ইয়ারে Aminul Sir, Pradip Chandra Sir, Mirza Manjurul Haque Sir, M. Karim Sir – এঁদের পেয়েছি। সবাই অসাধারণ শিক্ষক। Siddiq Sir-এর কাছে পরীক্ষা দিতে সবাই ভয় পেত। আল্লাহর রহমতে Mirza Sir আমাকে অনেক সাহায্য করেছিলেন, আর Siddiq Sir-এর কাছেই আমি সবচেয়ে ভালো নম্বর পেয়েছিলাম। এই স্মৃতিগুলো আজীবন মনে থাকবে।

ইন্টার্নশিপে Mamun Vai-এর কথা বলতেই হয়। এখন তিনি অরথোপেডিক্সে অ্যাসোসিয়েট প্রফেসর। আর Shakil Vai (CB-4) ও সেজার ভাই – এঁরা তিনজনই আমাদের বস ছিলেন। তাঁদের সহযোগিতায় আমরা ইন্টার্নশিপ সুন্দরভাবে শেষ করতে পেরেছি।

আসলে পাঁচ বছর সময় অনেক মনে হলেও, বাস্তবে খুবই সীমিত। এই সময়টা ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের উচিত শিক্ষকদের সাথে ভালো সম্পর্ক রাখা, ব্যাচমেটদের সঙ্গে বন্ধন গড়ে তোলা – যাতে স্মৃতিগুলো হয়ে ওঠে অমূল্য।

CBMC থেকে পাশ করে ঢাকা মেডিকেলে এলাম। অ্যানেস্থেসিয়াতে ট্রেনিং নিলাম। ২০১০ সালে BCS জয়েন করলাম। প্রথম পোস্টিং ছিল চুয়াডাঙ্গায়। এরপর ২০১৩ সালে ডিপ্লোমা কোর্স করতে রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজে ভর্তি হলাম এবং সেখানেই থেকে গেলাম।
বাবা-মায়ের দোয়া ছিল বলেই আজ এই অবস্থানে পৌঁছাতে পেরেছি। আলহামদুলিল্লাহ।

জুনিয়র ভাই-বোনদের জন্য আমার দোয়া থাকবে। ইনশাআল্লাহ তোমরা ভালোভাবে পড়াশোনা করবে, পোস্টগ্রাজুয়েশন করবে এবং আরও বড় জায়গায় পৌঁছাবে।

We are three siblings—two brothers and one sister. I am the youngest. My elder brother was born mute. Our father worked for the government, employed in a jute mill.
Both our father and mother had a dream: to make their children doctors. My elder sister got admitted to CBMC in the CB-5 batch. There was no problem with my sister’s admission either. Using the money they had in the prominent fund, they managed to get her admitted.
However, when it came to admitting me, my father faced some difficulties. He used to say, “If both my sons and daughter can become doctors, I’m ready to give up everything.” With that belief, he sold his land to arrange for our education. My sister and I feel proud to have been students of CBMC.

Studying in a private medical college brings you into contact with many relatives and acquaintances. When I was in my third year, my father went through a financial crisis. When he approached others for help, some spoke harshly, saying, “If you were planning to educate your children in medicine, why didn’t you inform us before?” Those words hurt my father deeply.
Still, our parents never let the criticism from relatives stop them. Today, I serve people at Rajshahi Medical College. Allah did not let our parents’ sacrifices go in vain.

Let me talk about the first year. Back then, Ratan Sir taught us anatomy, Sharif Sir and Beauty Madam taught histology, and Turin Sir was our guide in physiology. They always encouraged us to study diligently.
In the final year, we were blessed to have Aminul Sir, Pradip Chandra Sir, Mirza Manjurul Haque Sir, and M. Karim Sir—truly outstanding teachers. Everyone was afraid to take exams under Siddiq Sir. But by Allah’s grace, Mirza Sir helped me a lot, and I ended up getting my best marks under Siddiq Sir himself. These memories will stay with me forever.

During my internship, I must mention Mamun Vai. He is now an Associate Professor in Orthopedics. Also, Shakil Vai (CB-4) and Shezar Vai—these three were our supervisors. With their support, we completed our internship successfully.

Although five years might seem long, in reality, it passes quickly. During this time, students should build strong relationships with their teachers and form bonds with their batchmates so that the memories become priceless.
After graduating from CBMC, I came to Dhaka Medical for training in Anesthesiology. I joined the BCS in 2010. My first posting was in Chuadanga. Later, in 2013, I enrolled in a diploma course at Rajshahi Medical College—and I stayed there.

It’s only because of my parents’ prayers that I’ve reached where I am today. Alhamdulillah.

I love my medical college, CBMC, dearly. To my juniors currently studying there, I want to say this: no matter what people say about private medical colleges, I have seen with my own eyes that CBMC graduates hold top positions in many places. Alhamdulillah. By Allah’s mercy, I too am among the best in my department.

My prayers are with my junior brothers and sisters. In shaa Allah, you will study well, pursue postgraduation, and reach even greater heights.
