Everyone looks at the jaw. Almost no providers look at what it's responding to.

The most common pattern I see... a center of mass shifted forward, one side, or sometimes both. When we see this, we also see changes in how you're loading through the foot. Less heel contact, more pressure through the forefoot.

It doesn't stop at the foot. That same shift moves the pelvis and ribcage forward, restricts your neck, and pushes your head further out in front of your body than it was ever meant to sit.

The jaw isn't creating any of this. It's just stuck stabilizing a head that's sitting way out in front of a body that's already compensating.

I’ve been seeing more and more dentists talk about the connection between oral health and whole-body health, and honestly, I think it’s such an exciting shift.

I love the content of this dentist who originally filmed this clip, but I wanted to add another perspective, looking at it through a movement and whole-body lens. Because there’s so much more to this conversation than just the mouth.

That’s why I like to get you thinking about what else could be part of the picture.

Pain in the body can absolutely be related to what’s happening with the teeth, jaw, breathing, vision, posture, and the way your body is moving as a whole.

The goal isn’t to look at one body part in isolation. It’s about connecting the dots.

If facial asymmetry is something you’ve been curious about, comment "FACEASYM" and I’ll share my guide that looks at the teeth through a whole-body lens.

Your child's tonsils and adenoids are the first responders of the airway. When they swell, they aren't glitching... they're responding to their environment, and giving you a clue there's a problem.

When the jaw doesn't develop enough space, the airway narrows, airflow becomes turbulent, and the tissue stays irritated.

The immune system stays on high alert, and the tonsils can grow to compensate.

Surgery is a common answer... and it removes the tissue. It doesn't address the root. If the structure isn't addressed, the body stays in a guarded, mouth-breathing state... forward head posture, dark circles under the eyes, a narrow palate with no room for the tongue.

If you have a faulty breathing pattern it could be connected to your pelvic floor issues.

This is something I see in clinic DAILY and unfortunately a huge reason is that people are training belly breathing! I have so many resources to help with this.....

I see this constantly in clinic!! Patients chasing release after release on their jaw, their psoas, their lat muscle.

That tension is usually your body compensating for instability somewhere else, so releasing it without addressing the "why" just sends your body looking for a new place to hold tension.

I am not against soft tissue work! I think it can be super powerful.... but if you are someone going in daily for the same massage or the same stretch, I want this post to make you think.

Chin tucks are making your neck worse.

Your forward head isn't a head problem, it's your whole body. Your jaw depends on your ribcage, pelvis, feet. Your breathing drives it all forward.

Pulling your head back while everything else stays forward just tightens your neck and narrows your airway.

The fix isn't pulling harder. It's restoring your whole system.

Jaw tension isn’t always just a jaw problem. 🧠

Your feet, pelvis, ribcage, spine, neck, and jaw can all influence how your body adapts and moves.

If you’ve been dealing with jaw tension, don’t just treat the symptom—look at the bigger picture.

Your jaw, neck, and shoulders are not separate problems. They are one system.

When your head shifts forward, everything below it has to adapt. Your ribcage, pelvis, and breathing all shift to compensate. That tension you feel in your jaw, neck, and shoulders is not random, it is your body trying to organize around a position it should not be in.

The fix is not stretching the jaw or the neck. It is creating more space and better breathing throughout the system.

Comment JAW HACKS and I'll send you the guide on why your jaw is always tight.
Comment MOUTHTAPE and I'll show you why mouth breathing feeds this tension.
