Shammo is an app to connect people with disabilities with the market, employment, resources, and will also help navigate the city for disability-friendly spaces. According to a research done by BIDS, the economic cost of disability in Bangladesh amounts to a staggering amount of USD 1.18 billion which is 1.74 percent of total GDP of Bangladesh. Even though Bangladesh Government has made quantifiab
le progress in alleviating poverty, improving education, etc. the problem of disability inclusion is a far more complex problem. Our cities grew without taking any consideration of differently-abled people and now it has reached a point where the hurdles faced by people with disabilities are so much worse. Starting from social stigma to employment, health, transport, education, and social relationships, people with disabilities face challenges at every step of the way. Shammo intends to help people with disabilities in seven key aspects:
• generating employment and promoting entrepreneurship among people with disabilities
• facilitating transportation by connecting accessible transports and geolocating accessible places
• creating a platform of knowledgebase and resources
• improving healthcare by connecting with leading specialists
• enabling social networking among disabilities
• establishing database for future research
• providing overall support
