Freedom from glasses, even after previous eye surgery! 👁️
Our young patient had previously undergone surgery with monofocal intraocular lenses decided by the previous surgeon. She was not happy and she had to wear glasses at all distances. To further improve her vision, we implanted special multifocal lenses, that can be placed on top of the existing ones, allowing her to benefit from a full range of vision without replacing the original implants.
Today, she can see clearly at near, intermediate and far distances — without glasses!

Great conference organized by CBM and passionate discussion with Dr. Wanda Díaz-Merced, an astrophysicist who is visually impaired, and who transformed the way we experience the universe. By converting light and astronomical data into sound through a technique called sonification, she made it possible to explore cosmic phenomena in a different way — not only through sight, but through hearing.

Her work is a powerful reminder that blindness does not mean being excluded from science, discovery, or the beauty of the universe.

She reminds us that the stars can be heard as well as seen, and that sometimes, changing the way we perceive the world opens it to everyone including visual impaired people.

Because the universe belongs to all of us — whether we see the stars or listen to them.
