The Myth of Nyxara, the Veiled Oracle

In forgotten legends, there was a sorceress known as Nyxara, the Veiled Oracle of the Faithful.

It was said that Nyxara could not see in daylight. Truth hid itself from her beneath the sun. Only when surrounded by complete darkness would the voices of fate awaken, whispering the destinies of those who sought her.

Those who came before her were forbidden to speak their names. Instead, they offered only silence. She would lower her veiled head, and from the darkness she would hear what no mortal ear could—the thread of every soul's beginning, every choice, and every end.

Anemone × Taygete is an experimental black-and-white art film created in collaboration with American ambient composer and singer Christel Veraart.

The film combines ambient music, visual art, mythology, symbolism, and visual poetry in an exploration of transformation, darkness, and the unseen dimensions of experience.

The soundtrack features "Taygete", the opening composition from Christel Veraart's award-winning ambient album Pleiades, inspired by the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology. Together, the music and imagery invite the viewer into a contemplative, cinematic space where sound and vision become one.

Some endings are not endings at all — they are transformations.

Today marked the final day of the group exhibition Kunst in ’t Goed. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the organizers for making this experience possible, and to everyone who visited and carried ANEMONE with them in their hearts.

Presenting this unique collaboration with Christel Veraart in a location that so beautifully resonated with the energy of the work was truly special. The two spaces became more than exhibition rooms; they became part of the story, amplifying the atmosphere, memory, and presence of ANEMONE.

This was, for now, the only opportunity to experience the video installation ANEMONE live. Tomorrow, the film will be officially released on Christel Veraart’s YouTube channel.

And yet, there is something irreplaceable about being there in person. The silence. The shadows. The shared breath of a space transformed by art.

Thank you to everyone who stepped inside, paused, reflected, and became part of this journey.

ANEMONE lives on.

Yesterday I shared images of this character within the atmosphere of Dieweg Cemetery — the columns, the stone, the overgrown silence. The location became part of the image, another voice in the conversation.

Today I wanted to share a different photograph from the same series.

A pure black background removes every distraction. No architecture, no landscape, no context. What remains is only the figure itself: a presence suspended in darkness.

The character becomes stronger this way. More isolated. More symbolic. The veil, the mask, the skeletal form beneath, the contrast between white fabric and black gloves — each element carries more weight when nothing competes for attention.

This is often how I work. During a photoshoot I create many different images, exploring both the character and its surroundings. Only afterwards, while selecting the photographs, certain images begin to stand apart. They reveal a particular energy that cannot always be predicted in advance.

For me, this image carries that energy.

Stripped of place and narrative, the figure becomes something else entirely — less a person, more a presence.

For years I avoided the plague mask. At Dieweg, I finally understood its place. In black and white, it ceased to be an accessory and became a texture of memory—a silent witness standing between beauty and decay.
