A client asked me if it exists such thing as transgenerational trauma, as it often comes across as having an esoteric connotation.
The best I could explain it was that transgenerational trauma is like a chain of dominos, each one representing a generation within a family.
What’s particularly complex about transgenerational trauma, like the dominoes, is that the
connection isn’t always visible.

Even though the trauma happened long ago, the effects are still there in subtle and overt ways, such as emotional wounds, coping mechanisms, or unresolved grief. The following generations inherit not the trauma itself, but the emotional patterns and behaviours shaped by it - like anxiety, mistrust, or hypervigilance.

Healing from transgenerational trauma is like catching a domino in mid-fall.
