A major step forward for paediatric training in Europe!

The UEMS Council in Brussels has unanimously approved new European Training Requirements (ETRs) for four specialties.

✅ Paediatrics
✅ Paediatric Rheumatology
✅ Paediatric Endocrinology
✅ Paediatric Infectious Diseases

Another important milestone is the unanimous approval of the first two Divisions within the UEMS Paediatric Section.

🔹 Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition
🔹 Paediatric Haemato-Oncology

And more are to follow! In the coming years, further paediatric subspecialties will be recognised as Divisions as their respective ETRs are submitted for approval.

These developments are an important step towards high-quality, harmonised paediatric training across Europe, strengthening professional standards and ultimately improving care for children and young people.

Improving paediatric immunisation coverage in Europe requires more than strong recommendations. It requires systems that can identify gaps early and act on them.

In our new European Academy of Paediatrics position paper, we set out seven priority actions for stronger and more equitable immunisation programmes across Europe.

Six organisations came together at the World Health Summit side event roundtable to highlight the scale and consequences of alcohol-induced harm and the urgent need for stronger prevention policies.

With a full room and lively, in-depth discussions, the event brought together different perspectives and expertise around a shared commitment to advancing public health.

We are excited to leave the discussion with a concrete next step. The establishment of a joint working group, coordinated under the umbrella of the European Academy of Paediatrics (EAP) in collaboration with EHAA, will help turn this momentum into action.

The EAP is proud to provide a platform for this collaboration and looks forward to working with its partners to move these priorities forward.
