It is with profound sadness that ESGO mourns the passing of Professor Alexandros Rodolakis.

Alexandros was an outstanding gynaecologic oncologist, scientist, teacher and a deeply valued member of the ESGO community. Through his clinical expertise, scientific contributions and commitment to international collaboration, he made a lasting impact on our field and on the lives of many patients and colleagues.

He played an important role in ESGO for many years, including as Congress President of the ESGO 2019 Congress in Athens. His dedication to education, research and evidence-based care, including his important work on fertility-sparing treatment, will remain part of his lasting legacy.

Beyond his professional achievements, Alexandros will be remembered for his generosity, warmth and collegial spirit.

On behalf of ESGO, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

We will remember Alexandros with gratitude, respect and great affection.

It is with profound sadness that ESGO mourns the passing of Professor Claes Tropé.

With his passing, the international gynaecologic oncology community loses a prominent figure who has been part of shaping modern gynaecologic oncology in Europe, and many of us have lost a mentor and a friend.

Claes came to the Norwegian Radium Hospital from Sweden in 1986, drawn by the opportunity to devote himself to advanced oncological surgery. Under his leadership, the department in Oslo became an internationally recognised referral centre, accredited by ESGO and EBCOG. Claes gave many years of service to ESGO, including as Council member and Vice President of our society. He was also a founding member of the Nordic and Norwegian Societies of Gynecologic Oncology, as well as the International Gynecologic Cancer Society.

His mark on the subspecialty was profound. Claes was a leading advocate for centralising ovarian cancer surgery across the Nordic countries and was amongst the first in Scandinavia to introduce modern chemotherapy for gynaecologic cancers. He always placed his patients first and showed that radical surgery alone could replace radiotherapy in early stage cervical cancer, sparing countless women lasting harm.

Claes carried his restless curiosity into the laboratory, where he became a pioneer of the molecular study of gynaecological tumours. Above all, he was a generous and enthusiastic teacher who guided a generation of clinicians and researchers who now carry his work forward.

ESGO extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, his friends, and all who were fortunate to have worked alongside him.
