How can we innovate trauma recovery and mental health support for those affected by conflict? 🌱

In this video, Ethno-psychologist, Film and performance director, producer and Founder of Diversity United NGO () Empowering vulnerable communities through art & innovation
Elena Zervopoulou (.zervopoulou) shares insights from the three-day workshop, designed as a solidarity program to support those affected by the war in Ukraine through innovative, art-based healing activities.

Participants were guided to create a safe space by connecting with natural elements like the sea, stones, sand, and flowers. Through meditative processes, creative writing, and the creation of collective mandalas, we focused on highlighting resilience.

The workshop culminated in a beautiful interdisciplinary interactive performance. Blending video, poetry, and performative arts, the audience was invited to join in the final collective creation.

🎨 In our latest video guide, educator and mental health counsellor Barbara Kondilis walks us through the accessible, restorative practice of creating a collage.

🖌️🖼️Collage allows anyone to piece together fragments of their thoughts, memories, and emotions using everyday items. Whether you are using magazine cutouts, fabric, or even natural elements like flowers and feathers, the process is uniquely your own.

➡️ Here is a quick look at how to approach it:

🧑‍🎨🫟Gather materials without overthinking—follow your instinct.
Arrange the pieces on your surface before gluing to explore what feels right.
Layer and overlap elements to add emotional depth.
Allow time to dry and reflect on the final creation.
➡️ The true therapeutic value of collage often unfolds at the very end. As Barbara emphasizes, talking about the completed piece helps bridge the gap between our internal worlds and outward expression. Every layout tells a completely different, deeply personal story.

As part of the TRUST Art Therapy project, an Erasmus+ initiative co-funded by the European Union, we continue to utilize these practical creative tools to offer solidarity and healing to those affected by the war in Ukraine.

📽️Watch the step-by-step video to find inspiration for your own creative journey.

➡️ How do we process memory, emotion, and change?

📽️📽️In our latest video, educator and mental health counsellor Barbara Kondilis explores the profound therapeutic power of collage art. Far from being just a modern creative pastime, collage has roots tracing back centuries, serving as a deeply intuitive tool for visual storytelling and emotional processing.

During a recent TRUST Art Therapy workshop, participants engaged in creating wave collages. Just like ocean waves that arrive, cleanse, and transform their environment, this artistic process allowed individuals to piece together disparate materials into a new, unified expression of their inner worlds.

☀️☀️A fascinating phenomenon occurred during the session: independent groups naturally created collages featuring a sun at the center, radiating energy. This beautifully illustrates the concept of the collective unconscious, reflecting the shared resilience, hope, and energy flowing through our community.

➡️ As part of the TRUST Art Therapy project, an Erasmus+ initiative co-funded by the European Union, we remain dedicated to using these powerful creative mediums to support individuals affected by the war in Ukraine.
➡️ Watch the video to discover how the simple act of bringing fragments together can help us heal and find meaning.

➡️ We are excited to share a closer look at how creative practices can support healing and mental well-being.

📽️In our latest video, clinical psychologist Myrto Ntova discusses the therapeutic power of clay and its vital role within our programs.

➡️ Clay work offers unique benefits for psychological recovery and personal growth:
It helps calm the mind and relieve anxiety by providing a grounding, hands-on experience.
It improves concentration and fosters diverse cognitive and motor skills.
It creates a meditative space that connects participants with a long history of human creativity.

➡️ As part of the TRUST Art Therapy project, an Erasmus+ initiative, we continue to support people affected by the war in Ukraine through innovative, art-based healing activities. This project is co-funded by the European Union.
