Some encounters stay with you long after the road ends.
During our ride from Onomichi to Imabari 🇯🇵72km, we met Yuki — a stranger who became a quiet reminder of kindness. When our ferry plans fell through, he dropped everything to help us. And when that didn’t work, he simply rode all the way back with us, his bike light guiding the road through the dark.
There’s a saying from Flanders:
“Daar alleen is ’t leven goed, waar men stil en ongedwongen, alles voor een ander doet.”
That stil en ongedwongen — quietly and freely — is exactly what Yuki embodied.
No words, no praise. Just pure, gentle generosity.
From now on, that’s Yuki-style —
doing good without reason, without spotlight,
just because it feels natural.
Maybe that’s the real beauty of Japan:
kindness that doesn’t ask to be seen,
only to be shared 🥰🇯🇵
