Clinical photography is an essential part of facial plastic surgery.
Every patient who comes for a consultation—whether following an injury, previous surgery, because of a congenital condition, or with a facial lesion such as skin cancer—is carefully evaluated and photographed throughout their treatment journey.
These images allow us to analyse facial anatomy and function, plan the most appropriate treatment, document the condition accurately, and follow the healing process objectively over time.
They also serve as an important audit tool, helping us critically evaluate our own results and continually improve our practice. With appropriate patient consent and respect for confidentiality, clinical photographs can also support peer review and the education of junior colleagues.
Photography before and after surgery is not simply about demonstrating a result. It is an indispensable clinical tool—one that supports precision, accountability, continuity of care, and an honest assessment of every stage of treatment.
