🌍 Expertise that travels.

As Managing Director of Bosdreef and a member of Equine Care Group’s leadership team, Filip Vandenberghe, DVM, Associate (LA) ECVDI, combines his daily clinical practice with a broader role in shaping the future of equine medicine across the group.

He is a specialist in equine orthopaedics and sports medicine, and was one of the early pioneers in the clinical development of MRI in standing horses. Since becoming an Associate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) in 2011, he has continued to contribute to the advancement of equine diagnostic imaging and lectures his knowledge around the world.

Filip Vandenberghe is frequently invited to lecture at international conferences, to share his expertise with veterinary professionals. By remaining closely involved in clinical practice and exchanging knowledge with specialists worldwide, he brings valuable first-hand experience to his leadership role, helping guide the continued development of ECG and its network of equine hospitals.

Our nutrition specialist, Wendy Wambacq, had the pleasure of attending the ESVCN Congress in Naples, where she was invited to chair the Horse Nutrition session. The congress provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow experts, exchange insights and contribute to the latest discussions in equine nutrition.

Wendy also delivered two presentations discussing novel nutritional approaches to complex equine conditions:
🔬 Glyceryl polyethyleneglycol ricinoleate (PEG castor oil) as adjunctive nutritional therapy in two horses with malabsorption syndrome
🔬 Dietary management of severe equine inflammatory bowel disease using an antigen-restricted diet: a case report
In addition, she co-authored a third conference presentation exploring the reliability of horse weight estimation apps.

👏 The congress also marked the official end of Wendy’s term as ESVCN Treasurer. She will continue to contribute to specialist education as Vice-Chair of the ECVCN (European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition) Education and Residency Committee
🎓 A special congratulations as well to Marie-Céline Hottat from Ghent University on becoming an ECVCN Diplomate! Wendy had the pleasure of co-supervising Marie-Céline during her residency alongside her principal supervisor, Professor Myriam Hesta. But also some of the other newly qualified diplomates have spent some time with Wendy in the clinics or during meetings to further develop their expertise in equine nutrition, congrats to all on this fantastic achievement!

🇧🇪 ECG at ESER 2026 in Bruges, Belgium!

A fantastic opportunity to bring together colleagues from Equitom Namur, Reliance In Vitro, In Vitro Equinos, In Vitro Belgium, ECG Fertility and Rood & Riddle for a few days of science, exchange and collaboration.

We were proud to see Dr. Vilceu Bordignon and Dr. Wendy Wambacq contributing to the scientific programme and sharing their expertise with the international equine reproduction community.

Beyond the science, events like ESER are a great chance to strengthen the connections between our teams and continue growing research and education across ECG.

The season you’ve all been waiting for is back.

Equine Care Group brings together an integrated network of field veterinarians, clinic-based specialists and ambulatory teams, all working to the same high standards of quality and expertise, whatever the sporting context.

This season, our veterinarians are once again deployed in Oliva, Spain, to ensure a structured, rigorous and continuous medical presence at the heart of the circuit.

Their role goes far beyond stepping in when needed.

It means supporting equine athletes as true high-performance professionals: regular clinical assessments, individualized monitoring, fast and informed on-site medical decisions, risk anticipation, and validation of fitness to compete under optimal conditions.

The goal is twofold: horses that enter the arena in peak condition, and leave the competition with their physical integrity fully preserved.

Last weekend, the Reproduction and fertility Division of Equine Care Group, was present at the World Breeding Jumping Championship for Young Horses in Zangersheide with Equiception and In vitro Equinos Joining forces.

A key event bringing together breeders, riders, veterinarians and equestrian professionals from around the world, all focused on the future of show jumping.

At Equine Care Group, we believe that supporting the next generation starts long before they enter the arena. Through veterinary expertise, reproductive care and scientific knowledge, we work alongside breeders to support healthy development and future performance.
