What? An uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices, Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras, such as Sat nam (“I am truth”). The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness. Who? I am a IKYTA certified kundalini yoga teacher and I teach kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan in Brussels. When? The regu

JOY

Joy does not arrive with a fanfare,
on a red carpet strewn with the flowers of a perfect life.

Joy sneaks in, as you pour a cup of coffee,
watching the sun hit your favourite tree, just right.

And you usher joy away,
because you are not ready for it.
Your house is not as it must be,
for such a distinguished guest.

But joy cares nothing for your messy home,
or your bank-balance,
or your waistline, you see.

Joy is supposed to slither through the cracks of your imperfect life,
that’s how joy works.

You cannot invite her, you can only be ready when she appears.

And hug her with meaning,

because in this very moment,

joy chose you.

34 days ago I was sitting on my mat disheartened and low on energy, shuffling through my yoga books for a kriya for the morning. I have no idea as to what possessed me to choose the Kriya for Physical and Mental Vitality from the book called ‘Kriya’!
The first time I attempted it I thought my thighs are going to break off me and run away!
Is there life after two subsequent sets of five minutes to crisscross your legs, followed by a push-pull of legs for another two sets of five minutes???
Boy, has this been hard going!
It took about 10 days to get to max times in the first two exercises and even today I have to reach for the support of the ground while crisscrossing.

Why did I do it?
For someone who finds most things in life easy to understand and master, discipline has not been a close acquaintance.
No! there’s always this new and more interesting thing/book/craft/hike to distract myself with.

Many mornings passed and still seeking the bliss of such an arduous set, it grew to me. Once over the first two exercises the day could properly begin.

Things slowly shifted: I got up earlier to allow more elements to my sadhana, which with this kriya was now fast approaching 2 hours.

25 days into the kriya an explosion of energy took me almost off guard! I was bursting with ideas and energy as if some physical weight and a mental veil had been lifted! What a blessing this kriya had been after all!

Approaching the 40 days milestone, an inner voice is voting to continue until 90 days. It would be nearly Midsummer by then… what if I’ve become so energetic by then I will have completed all my work by then? I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

In the meantime you are welcome to join my soon to becoem twice weekly online class.
From coming Monday we will continue with shorter classes of 60 minutes only and if you miss one, contact me to get access to the recording.
