"Hand therapy is not one-size-fits-all."

The same surgery does not always require the same splint.

In this case, shared by Upper Limbs & Beyond, both fingers underwent PIP joint replacement surgery, yet each required a different orthotic solution to support healing and function.

Every hand presents unique challenges, and successful outcomes depend on careful assessment of alignment, stability, movement, swelling, and individual patient needs.

This is a great example of how custom thermoplastic splints help therapists provide truly personalized care.

His winning design is a custom dynamic flexion orthosis for a patient with stiffness of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint.
