Every evening at the train station, a solitary elderly man played the piano — one night, a young woman began to sing along to a tune he had once sung for his absent daughter.
Around 7 p.m. each night, the same piano melody resonated throughout the old train station.
Most passersby hardly acknowledged the elderly musician near the benches. Some tossed coins into his case, while others simply strolled by as if he were a fixture of the station itself.
However, Arthur’s motivation for playing was not monetary.
He played as it was the sole activity that kept him feeling connected to his daughter.
Forty years prior, his wife vanished unexpectedly, taking their young girl with her. He spent years searching for them. Police reports, private detectives, countless phone calls — nothing ever yielded results.
Eventually, everyone urged him to let go.
But he was never able to do so.
Particularly because of that melody.
It was a composition Arthur had created when his daughter Evelyn was merely five years old. Each night before she went to sleep, he would sit beside her, softly singing it until she drifted off in his embrace.
No one else in the world was aware of that song.
At least, that was his belief.
Then, one rainy night, as Arthur played the familiar melody at the station as he had countless times before, he abruptly heard a voice from behind him.
A young woman was singing along.
Flawlessly.
His hands halted mid-air above the piano keys.
The entire station fell silent as Arthur slowly turned to face the woman standing near the platform.
She appeared to be in her early forties, tears streaming down her cheeks as she gently sang every word of the lullaby.
Arthur’s entire being began to shake.
This wasn’t just any song.
It was HIS song.
The melody he had only ever shared with one individual.
He rose slowly from the piano bench, nearly gasping for air.
Then, with tears welling in his eyes, he murmured:
"Evelyn…? Is that you?"👇👇👇
