I'm pleased to share the publication of our GCC Expert Consensus Statement on Neuropathy in the prestigious Journal of Diabetes Investigation. Names in alphabetical order.

It is a true honor to represent Bahrain and Royal Bahrain Hospital in this international collaboration. This publication adds to previous GCC consensus statements while with Royal Bahrain Hospital that I had the privilege to contribute to on Hypothyroidism, Vitamin D, Diabesity, and Driving in People with Diabetes, reflecting a continued commitment to advancing endocrine and diabetes care across the Gulf region.

SUPER RESPONDERS: A New Era in Personalized Obesity Care

Not all patients with obesity respond equally to treatment.

Emerging research suggests that more than 1 in 4 individuals have a unique physiological phenotype characterized by:

• Lower post-meal GLP-1 secretion

The American Heart Association's latest scientific statement suggests that moderate coffee consumption (about 3–5 cups/day) is not only safe for most people but may also offer cardiovascular benefits.

Key takeaways:
• Lower risk of atrial fibrillation recurrence.
• Reduced risk of stroke, heart failure, and type 2 diabetes with moderate intake.
• No increased risk of coronary artery disease with moderate consumption.
• Paper-filtered coffee is preferred, as unfiltered coffee (French press, Turkish, boiled coffee) may raise LDL cholesterol.
• These benefits do not apply to energy drinks or high-dose caffeine supplements, which may increase the risk of dangerous heart rhythm disturbances.

Bottom line:
For most healthy adults, enjoying a few cups of filtered coffee each day can be part of a heart-healthy lifestyle. As always, individual tolerance and specific medical conditions should guide recommendations.

وافقت هيئة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية (FDA) على Lipfendra® (Enlicitide)، ليصبح أول دواء فموي (حبوب) من فئة مثبطات PCSK9 لعلاج ارتفاع الكوليسترول الضار (LDL). يُستخدم مع الحمية الغذائية والتمارين الرياضية لدى البالغين المصابين بارتفاع الكوليسترول، بما في ذلك فرط كوليسترول الدم العائلي (HeFH).
