Recentemente observamos uma explosão da publicidade e uso dos peptídeos para fins estéticos e terapêuticos ao redor do globo, inclusive com vendas no mercado paralelo e por não médicos.
Assim, fez-se necessária uma revisão da literatura que orientasse médicos de todo o mundo sobre o status regulatório atual dos peptídeos, os dados de segurança em humanos, as perspectivas futuras e, especialmente, sobre como esses tratamentos podem ser promissores em inúmeras questões de saúde.

Therefore, a literature review was necessary to guide physicians worldwide on the current regulatory status of peptides, safety data in humans, future prospects, and, in particular, how these treatments may be promising for numerous health issues.
