Born and raised in the Midwest, I have been active my whole
life - my parents encouraged me to try any and all sports creating a foundation of fitness and fun that I continue into my adult life. My passions are in finding the movement program that works best for my clients, with a Masters of Public Health in Behavioral Science and Health Education as well as certified as both an ACSM Exercise Physiologist and Yoga Instructor I create programs that work with the individual strengths and needs of my students. I took my first yoga class in 2001 but found my passion and regular practice while studying Health Promotion and Human Physiology at the University of Iowa. Before teaching yoga I instructed various fitness classes (e.g., kickboxing, boot camp) as a certified American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist. Under the instruction of Paula Tursi of Reflections Yoga and Peter Kaaberbol Kristensen of LagoCPH, I learned the key principles of yoga and teaching, receiving my 200-RYT certification alongside 30 other beautiful souls. I believe the best teachers are those who continue their personal practice and are lifelong students. I have attended yoga festivals throughout the country including the Dubuque Yoga Festival and Wanderlust-Aspen. My continuing education has included workshops in pranayama (breath control), Thai Massage, and yoga anatomy. Since 2013 I have taught over 500 hours of yoga in group as well as individual settings. My classes are filled with unique and exciting flows emphasizing breath and alignment aimed at creating a sound connection between mind, body, and spirit. I have taught Vinyasa, restorative, hatha, yin and fusion styles of yoga allowing my students to find their own breath and body awareness in practice. My primary interest is creating optimal wellness through all facets of life and using yoga as a moving meditation to encourage my students to find themselves and their heart in this world. So come flow and have fun with me today!
