All Souls' Day 2025

The cemetery and chapel will be open for quiet reflection from 8am to 4pm.

There will be special prayers at our Sunday Service at Christ Church (10:30am, Rua Real Grandeza, 99) giving thanks for all those who have gone before us.

St. Luke's Episcopal Church will be holding a memorial service at the Cemetery Chapel on All Souls' Day, November 2nd at 10am. The service will be conducted in Portuguese.

Due to health and safety concerns, unfortunately we will not be able to have our usual service for All Souls’ Day at The English Cemetery in Gamboa.

The cemetery will be open as usual for quiet reflection on the day.

ALL SOULS' DAY - NOVEMBER 2
There will be the usual service of remembrance of those buried in Gamboa cemetery, tomorrow the 2nd at 11.30am.
ALL ARE WELCOME, AND THE CEMETERY IS OPEN FOR VISITORS ALL DAY, AND EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK, FROM 8AM TO 4PM.

What's that going up in the distance, you don't ask?
It's the "Rio Star" of course! 🎡

Inspired by London's own "Eye", at a height of 88m it will (reportedly) be - upon completion this year - Latin America's biggest big wheel.

A ride promises great views of the English Cemetery in the foreground!

Latest damage to the trees at the front of the cemetery. Already cleaned up by Prefeitura, but only on street side.
