Basic Things To Know ✅⚓️

This poster briefly explains the classes of fire on ships and the correct extinguishers to use for each, emphasizing maritime safety.
• Class A – Ordinary combustibles (wood, paper, cloth): Use water, foam, or dry powder.
• Class B – Flammable liquids (fuel, oil): Use foam, CO₂, or dry powder to smother flames.
• Class C – Flammable gases (LPG, acetylene): Use dry powder and shut off the gas supply.
• Class D – Combustible metals (magnesium, aluminum): Use Class D powder only.
• Class E – Electrical fires: Use CO₂ or dry powder, never water.
• Class F – Cooking oils and fats: Use wet chemical extinguishers or fire blankets.

The lower section shows common fire extinguishers used onboard and reinforces the message:
fire prevention and correct response protect the crew, and the safest lifeboat is the ship itself.
