The use of benzocaine gels, sprays, ointments, solutions, and lozenges for mouth and gum pain can lead to a serious and sometimes fatal condition.

Teething is a normal part of childhood that doesn’t need a 'cure' with prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medications. FDA warns parents that benzocaine products are not safe for treating teething in children. There are safer, non-toxic alternatives.

As we move into a new year, I strongly encourage you to please keep your children safe while driving!

Rear facing is the safest way for young children to travel. It is the best way to prevent brain and spinal cord injuries. A child should ride in a rear-facing car seat AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. It is best practice to rear face to a minimum of age 2, and ideally until the child reaches the top height or weight limit allowed by the car seat manufacturer.

Children under 2 years old are 75% safer rear facing and 5 times less likely to be killed or seriously injured when rear facing than forward facing.

Using the correct car seat can be a lifesaver!

Wishing you and yours a safe, happy and prosperous new year!
