“Health is wealth. Peace of mind is happiness. Yoga shows the way.”

~ Swami Vishnudevananda

When you dedicate your life to the practice of yoga 🧘🏻‍♀️ and fully surrender to Divine grace, you discover a way of existence that far supersedes anything the material world can offer.

Not only do you achieve great physical and mental health, but you develop a sense of equanimity and internal peace that allows you to enjoy life with all of its ups and downs.

Yoga teaches that happiness can never be found in the outside world. Happiness only resides in the unconditionally devotional, open and loving heart 🧘🏻‍♀️🧡✨🙏🏼

The family yoga vacation program at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas far exceeded our expectations!

It was a beautiful week spent in a spiritual environment surrounded by nature — sun, palm trees and the vast blue ocean 🌊 ☀️

This experience will forever stay in the kids’ hearts 💕 For 7 days, they were immersed in the ashram life — practicing karma yoga (helping others), developing new relationships, doing yoga asanas, meditation and chanting daily, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings 🦀🐚🌴🐠

We had an amazing time and will surely return again 🧡🙏🏼

“Sthira Sukham Asanam” ~ Patanjali

The pose (asana) should be practiced in a steady, strong and relaxed manner🧘🏻‍♀️

Holding a yoga pose, especially a more challenging one, helps the practitioner to build strength and mental resilience. This is certainly an important aspect of the yoga practice. We should also never underestimate the feeling of pain or excessive strain.

The purpose of yoga has and always will be transcending the mind. When you practice, practice with intention, with reverence for the ancient teachings, and with love and respect towards your body.

Each pose is designed to stimulate a specific center and to move energy through. Every time you practice, you should feel a release instead of pain or stiffness. Allow the body to relax into the posture while keeping it in proper alignment to build strength.

With time, you will begin to experience the positive effects. When the body is able to let go, the mind does also.

Namaste 🙏🏼

Yesterday was my official graduation from the Yoga Teachers’ Training Course

I’m so blessed to have been able to return to the ashram after three years (due to the pandemic) and complete my studies and certification. It was an incredible achievement that spurred a lot of growth. I am excited to bring to the world and continue to advance in my own practice.

As a graduate of the course, each student received a blessing. Some of us also received a spiritual name signifying the qualities and virtues we must strive to attain. It is like a new beginning, starting fresh and with a new view on life.

My spiritual name is Lakshmi. Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of prosperity. She is the wife of lord Vishnu, the God of creation.

Lakshmi is seated on a lotus 🪷 flower - a symbol of rising above the material world through divinity, of being good in the midst of negative influences. Like the lotus, the Goddess of Prosperity, Lakshmi shows us how to transcend material wealth for spiritual progress. 🙏🏻

I’m so blessed to have stumbled on this path and look forward to continue to grow spiritually, and to develop and spread the knowledge of yoga.

Om Namah Shivaya 🙏🏻

This is so true 🙏🏻❤️

Our emotional health impacts our physical health, there is no way around it. I’ve overcome some of my own emotional barriers in the past; traumas and toxic beliefs are scary to unpack but when you do you give yourself freedom and the opportunity for dynamic growth.

Work with a coach, speak up for yourself, let your feelings out. Deciding to focus on your emotional health as much as your physical health will have big payoffs for your wellness and happiness throughout life.

Vitamin D is a jack of all trades, assisting our bodies with everything from bone formation and hormonal balance to immune and muscle function. This review focuses on the latter, analyzing eleven different studies to evaluate the effects of vitamin D supplementation on inflammation, oxidative stress, and recovery after exercise.

Though more research is needed on this exact intervention, it holds promise for potential recovery protocols for athletes and discovering other positive impacts on muscle function, muscle pain, and oxidative stress.

Consuming 7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day is what every person should aim for 🥬🥦🥒🥕

As humans, we are designed to eat plants; we have evolved that way.

Yes, we hunted once upon a time, but the majority of our diet has always been plants we gathered in nature.

Plants are made perfectly to provide us the nutrients we need to maintain good health, as well as the fibers feeding our beneficial microbes — essential for digestive and immune system function.

Veggies are so versatile and easy to prepare: cut them up in a fresh salad, sauté them with herbs, or purée them in smoothies or soups 🍲

Increasing your daily intake of fruits and vegetables will help you improve your health on so many levels: more energy, glowing skin, better digestion and elimination, a more robust immune system and so much more…

In the coming days, I will be sharing some of my all time favorite plant-based recipes on this page. They are kid friendly too!

I would love to see your beautiful creations as well so please share them in the comments ❤️🤗😋
