Gastroparesis is a digestive disorder that affects the normal movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine. When the stomach takes too long to empty, it can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, bloating, abdominal pain, early fullness, and changes in appetite.

During Digestive Tract Paralysis & Gastroparesis Awareness Month, we’re raising awareness about the importance of recognizing persistent digestive symptoms and seeking appropriate care.

If digestive discomfort is affecting your everyday life, don’t ignore it. Speak with a healthcare professional about your symptoms and take the first step toward understanding what may be causing them.

Why is Ginger Good for Your Gut?

Ginger is a carminative, which means it relieves flatulence. It helps to break up and expel gas that forms in the intestinal tract during digestion.

By increasing the digestive enzymes trypsin and lipase, ginger actually stimulates the digestive tract. It speeds things up while soothing and protecting the gut and GI tract.

There are many ways to incorporate ginger into your diet. The root can be eaten fresh, dried, pickled, preserved and even in liquid and tablet form. Ginger can also be found in many tonics, kombuchas, teas and juices.

Persistent bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation may be an indication of infection or imbalance. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Flloyd Carter.

You might not see it, but your body could be giving you a quiet warning. Occult blood refers to microscopic amounts of blood in the stool, invisible to the naked eye but never insignificant. A F***l Occult Blood Test (FOBT) is a quick, non-invasive way to detect it, often serving as an early warning for serious conditions like:

🧬 Colon Polyps — Small growths that can become cancerous over
time.

🦠 Peptic Ulcers — Open sores in the stomach or intestine that may
bleed silently.

🚽 Hemorrhoids/Anal Fissures — Less serious but still
important to diagnose.

🚨 Diverticulosis/Diverticulitis — Small pouches in the colon
that can bleed or get infected.

🎗 Colorectal Cancer — Early detection significantly improves
survival rates.

🔎 Early detection saves lives — and starts with a test you won’t even feel.

💦 Foods that have a high water content are great for the hotter summer months. Cucumbers are 96% water!

💪 These foods are more than just hydrating, they also provide various nutrients, vitamins and fiber.

🥒 To optimize a food's hydration benefits, it’s best to eat it raw or minimally cooked. And don't forget to drink your water too!

⚠️ Persistent bloating, an upset tummy no matter what you eat, acne and other skin issues can all be signs of an unhealthy or imbalanced gut.

Not all gluten reactions are the same. While both Celiac Disease and Gluten Sensitivity can cause discomfort after eating gluten, they are very different conditions.

Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder where gluten triggers the immune system to attack the small intestine, leading to long-term damage and nutrient absorption issues. Even small amounts of gluten can cause harm.

Gluten Sensitivity, on the other hand, does not cause intestinal damage, but it can still lead to symptoms like bloating, fatigue, headaches, and digestive discomfort after consuming gluten.

Understanding the difference is important—because only Celiac Disease requires strict, lifelong gluten avoidance for medical protection.

If you experience ongoing symptoms after eating gluten, speak with a healthcare provider for proper testing and guidance.

🥖 Your symptoms matter—don’t guess, get checked.
